Improved hunterts markFollow

I have been looking to several hunters and posted specs and I keep wondering why nobody uses it?

For the BM spec I find it most usefull that I can increase my pets ATP to +440 not to mention how helpfull it can be in heroics and raids.

U start with +110 ATP and each hit gives them +11 ATP counting up till the max of +440 ATP.

Now I dont know about you but since my main char is a rogue I would surely love to have a free +440 ATP boost and im pretty sure the tank and enhance shamans wont mind aswell...

Give your opinions about IHM

I would say thumbs up for soloing big *** elites as BM and extra boosts in raids

It only gives the base AP improvement as melee AP; 110 AP. It doesn't get the benefit of the stacking effect.

It's great in raids, mediocre in heroics.

Lately, I've been less than impressed with it. I'm close to specc'ing away from it. Unless I can be directed to an addon to remind me to put it up every 2 minutes during a boss fight, I don't always remember to put it back up.

It doesn't matter if you're specced into it or not, keeping Hunter's Mark up is a huge boost to your damage.

On a boss it's 440 attack power to you and all other hunters.. You had better remember using it.

If HM is reapplied is all the "built up" AP still kept, or is it lost on the reapplication. I've never actually been sure about that.

If you just "forget" to get your free 440 AP because you cant rebuff every 2 minutes, you fail as a hunterplayer.

Win. And, in raids the Hunter needs mana efficiency more than in any other play. Which puts Imp. HM in direct competition with Efficiency for the same 5 Talents in the only place it's worth considering at all.

Good point, and I'm ashamed.

I'll add it into my bloodlust/bestial wrath macro, since I do remember to do that one every 2 minutes in a raid. I dunno why I never thought of that before.

Get a standard DoT/debuff tracker and put it on your screen somewhere where you'll notice it, but it won't be in the way. When it gets down to the last few seconds, pop it up.

Once I get my hunter to 70, I plan on going a 0/25/36 raid support spec. The 5 points in iAotH don't really seem that important (and according to Cheeky's spreadsheet, has marginal if any damage boost to damage output, though I admit I'm not an expert on rotations so that may be why), but the extra 110 AP to 3-4 DPS, a couple pets, and the tanks definitely seemed worth it.

Does anyone know the answer on this

a) Does the stacked up ATP remains when you renew it before it fades away or do you start from 110 again?

b) Are you sure that melee has only the 110 ATP boost and not the +4 extra ATP every strike they hit?

Tyvm for all the contribution so far :)

I don't know the answer to the first question, but the second question is answered in the description of Improved Hunter's Mark itself.

Causes 100% of your Hunter's Mark ability's base attack power to apply to melee attack power as well.

And about specing it, you should check with your raid, it's only needed by 1 hunter in the whole raid, any more than that and it is waisted talent points that could have been better served in Efficiency.

To answer the question about HM stacked bonus being erased at reapplication... no you keep the max 440 RAP bonus if it is reapplied by the same hunter who originally had it up BEFORE it fades from the target. So you have to reapply it ever 1:59 to keep the RAP bonus, otherwise you have to build the stacks back up.
