Rogue 2v2Follow

#1 Jan 13 2008 at 4:35 AM Rating: Good
My god, is every Rogue Shadowstep? I ran my 2v2 last night and went 25-18 with a Resto Shaman partner (rawr, smash Druid/Warrior Druid/Warlock) and fought maybe 15 games against Rogues. Only one had Mace Spec - every single other Rogue had Shadowstep, including some rather odd combinations (like double Shadowstep Rogue... you'd think Mace Stun would help).

Did I miss the memo somewhere?

PS: Frost Mage and Shadowstep? I mean, really? Is there any part of this team that doesn't say "whip me with a druid until I cry"?

Logic dictates that if going part way in to Sub for a HARP build was good, then going further into sub must be more gooder!

Its not a horrible spec, but too many people haven't played ShS and the specc-ed into it thinking its like HARP.

hard to kill, hard to kite... step has some merit

i'd imagine though a sl/sl warlock would be its best friend, not so much a frost mage

although frost/step does make some nice switch->burst damage combos

This makes sense.

True, but in a 2v2 burn team Cheat Death isn't all that useful. If the fight lasts long enough for their (presumably 1) DPS to get you to that point you've already lost.

The Frost Mage is actually decent against our team (and Paladins/Priests, I'd imagine) but it's got to be awful against Druids. If it gets down to an endurance race they've lost, and they can't lock out the Druid at _all_ since everything is instant. Throw in a cyclone and they're toast, and the Druid should be easily able to skate out of trouble.

It just seems like bringing a Kevlar Vest to a knife fight. It's a counter, sure... it just doesn't help you when they jam that knife right through your ***** little woven fiber.

ive seen some mages able to put a druid out of commission for a good 10 seconds or so. it requires imp counterspell, and a knowledge of when and how to poly the druid and make use of spell steal, but its doable. the question at hand is whether or not the combined power of the ShS rogue and the water elemental is enough to take the warrior down in those ~10 seconds.

You'd want to control the warrior with snares and poly, and kill the druid in that case Quor. With both shadowstep and a frost mage, Druid have a hard time getting away.

Every rogue is shadowstep mostly because you've got to try it, right? Don't worry, they'll be back to combat next week.

Beside, honestly, being a rogue in a 2v2 screams "own me in the face druids!" no matter what spec you are... so it's kind of a wash.
