10/48/3 still the best?Follow

In light of the latest patch changes is the 10/48/3 build still the best raid spec?
Have people had time to analyse the new possibilites of Icy Veins, or even Arcane builds with the addition of 3x mana gemsand improved evocation?

Also what has ice block brought to the 10/48/3 table? I've never really played a frost mage and thought that the Ice block was a total aggro dump when used. What I have noticed is that when using it, it only shifts aggro to the next in line and doesnt actually drop your threat. When I come out of Ice block I am still right near, or at the top, of the threat meters. Is this how it always worked?
I was hoping I could nuke right off the bat. Iceblock. Dump aggro, come out of Ice block and steadily manage threat.

Thanks in advance.

I tried out a 2/48/11 spec yesterday. It was fun and I really didn't have the mana problems I'd feared.

the 2/48/11 build (or 0/47/11 + 3) build gives slightly better dps at a small loss of dpm (damage per mana). Ice block, as you noticed, does not dump aggro, but instead just remove you from the current threat list and the mob goes to the next in line (if you are there). The point of iceblock is mostly to just incase you pull aggro (by a small amount) or to get rid of a debuff on yourself during a raid.

Hope this helps.

When you become immune to a mob's attacks (Pally shields, Ice Block, Nether Protection), they shift to the next-highest person, but your aggro isn't dumped. So, a well-timed BoP can potentially save a tank if they take it off right away, and you don't want NP as the warlock tank on Leo; Ice Block is basically used to give the healers enough time to heal you back up and the tank to taunt the mob off you.

It's just like a Paladin's bubble, except you can't move or do anything while it's on you. It'll remove nearly everything, although there are a few boss debuffs you can't get rid of with it - stuff like Solarian's bomb effect. These are the exceptions to the rule, though.

they have fixed that, you can get rid of solarion's effect with it.

Yeah which is great when the raid is scattering to get out of range and you can just block it off. Even more awesome now because you can do that even as fire mage.

the raid shouldn't be scattering, lol, everyone should be all grouped up on one person and that person should either go to the left or the right to blow up... sooo much easier!
