Same placement my guild uses. An infernal ALWAYS seems to drop in such a way to prevent melee dps for at least half the fight or more, but we've been using this placement for months and have never had to move the raid yet (knock on wood).

Back in the days when people raided MC/Onyxia, bosses were less pet-friendly than they are now. Now, in a raid most bosses are pet-safe (Common sense is required to not let pet die tho)

Just had to whine a lil bit;

Got a kara group yesterday and we cleared Attumen-Aran in 3 hours. No crossbow from attumen, no gun from Opera since we got Crone (duh). Altho i got my Legacy, it was very sad to see the hunter in the other raidgroup picking up both.

Oh well, i better be hoping for the Sunfury then!

Ran Kara again with my new guild. 2nd time through...way way easier...most of the guild is up around T4 gear. I ended up with some good upgrades this time.

Steelhawk Crossbow will be a significant upgrade to DPS, especially once I slap a crit scope on that bad boy. Quite pleased with that drop as I've been using Valnos' Longbow forever!

Another epic, dropped off Romulo, Romulo's Poison Vial. Now I don't know what the proc rate is on this, but if it is not very good this epic is probably pretty craptacular.

This one is the best though, I was able to get myself a pair of Demon Stalker Gauntlets when Curator dropped gloves of the fallen hero. Pretty sweet upgrade considering I was wearing crappy blues from Ramparts.

Anyway, I guess it all comes down to finding the right guild really, if you're not having much luck in Kara, find a good guild to run you and they will get you geared in no time. Good luck!

Bosses in TBC aren't just pet-safe. Hunters became easy-mode. A lot of bosses just pretend that pets don't exist. Shade's Flame Wreath doesn't get triggered by pets. Prince doesn't hit pets with Enfeeble or Shadow Nova. I've never seen my ravager get effected by Maiden's Holy Fire.

We have it good nowadays. Aside from buffing up our problems, Blizzard also GAVE raids an extra reason to take hunters... What other class can do a Misdirection pull on a boss? Pulls like High King and Nightbane are extremely difficult without us, but pretty easy with.

Goddamnit, hunters are over powered. :)

It's not safe, and it could box you in. We were lucky that the tank had to force a raidmove, because if not we just might have had a separated tank/melee - Healers/ranged DPS problem. Thus, positioning the raid in a way that allows you to move freely no matter where the infernals drop, is vital.

Both of our Kara groups have been using the spot by the door and our Ranged/healers have never once had to move. An infernal has dropped between us but the meleee classes just ran the other way to get out of the AOE burst. We've never needed to move the ranged or tank. The 60%-30% burn should be done as quickly as possible. But if your DPS is moving around to avoid infernals it will take longer to do.

The other side didn't work that well for us. Too many infernals dropped on that side for us. Maybe luck has been with us but the door area seems to be working great for us.
