What addons do you consider "hunter essentials"?

There is a very recent post about this.

I use:
Bartender 3
Titan
Omen threat meter
Venantes
SWStats
Atlas
Cartographer
Quartz

Run a search for addons and filter through there, I swear though just today this question was answered. If you are unsure of where to go, do a search for cursedgaming, go to the wow addons site. From there you can search their ignorantly huge list of addons and get what looks sexy to you.

I use this one addon package called "Zhuntermod" which is a compilation of a number of useful features. I don't use all of them but it comes in handy. This mod does some of the following:

-gives a cast bar for auto-shot
-gives an auto-strip icon that removes gear to minimize damage
-generates a simple alert in party chat with you use Misdirection and Tranquilizing shot
-Automatically turns aspect of the cheetah/pack off when you get hit
-creates an on-screen action bar for aspects, tracking, traps (I don't use this one)

It has other features but I turned the game off and cannot remember what they were.

One essential not listed I'd have to say is Recount. It is an excellent damage meter I was introduced to by my guild's leader and is much more accurate than Damage Meters, which I found can often be flawed in its readings. Plus Recount keeps track of a LOT of stuff. Damage dealt, damage taken, DPS, CC breakers, healing, overhealing, hits, misses, deaths, you name it, it's probably there. It also has graphs and breakdowns of your total skills used and such. Overall a really nice addon.

Any reason to use Omen over KLH Threatmeter?

Thats the one i was thinking of, Zhunter. Good catch Tavarde. I like Omen, it is what I have always used. They both work just fine though.

no reason not to, it uses less recources, has seperate threatlists per mob (unless they are of the same name), gives a clear bright red flashing screen when you pass a certain amount of your tank's threat and it even looks better then ktm.

Besides omen i have:
- Bartender 3 for a more practical and prettier UI
- Zhuntermod for the autoshot timer, it showing who i misdirected, what i disspelled with arcane shot and the neat aspect and petstuff menu's.
- titanbar to display pc performance, arrows left, geardmg and bagslots.
- Auctioneer for some extra help with money making
- Atlasloot for maps of instances and lootwatching
- Deadlybossmods, CTRaidAssist and guildcalender for raiding.

One reason to use Omen over KTM is that KTM can bug on Feign Death. You wipe your threat, but KTM doesn't show that sometimes. Thus, you will have a very skewed threat showing if you use KTM.
