Which makes a better Lock?

Whichever look you like better. I bet if you read the class sticky there is a race breakdown. I prefer a BE.

I'm an orc warlock. There is hardly any real difference between races for warlocks, particularly when raiding, pvping the orc has a bonus for his pet, so using the felhunter in pvp does have a tiny advantage.

IMO The orc Locks' gear looks much better than the other two races. the other two races are too skinny!

Hell yeah, go Orc.

I like orcs better for warriors, Warlocks are supposed to be skinny.

I like my BE because he is evil and sadistic with a superiority complex to me just fits the character. "Why fight when you can summon a demon to do it for you". My first warlock was undead but I just hate the way they move.

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this already. Going undead means you get canibilize racial ability, which is pretty boss when combined with lifetap. It really helps keep things rollin. Just my two-cents.

As with all things in WoW, it depends on what you want out of the class (Locks in this instance).

For instance lets look at the three classes' racials as they apply to the Warlock class:

Quote:
Orc:
Main contributing racial: +5% Pet melee dmg.

Assuming your going Demo lock (With your demons being the focus) 5% increase in damage is a nice little incentive.

Quote:
Undead:
Main contributing racial(s): WotF, Cannibalize.

IMO if you want total synergy with the Affliction build, you'll want an Undead character.

Cannibalism works so well along with Lifetap (and combat healing in general) that you'll rarely sitdown for a drink, not to mention later on when you get Fel-Armor, it applies to your Cannibalize as well, I tend to get 1200+ ticks off of my cannibalize nowadays.

WotF almost needs no introduction, considering immunity to Fear by itself has turned many tides in my battles, even saved my party's wipes on occasion. Top notch racial if they're ever was one.

Quote:
Blood Elf:
Main contributing racial(s): Mana Tap, Arcane Torrent.

Now Arcane Torrent aside, Mana Tap (the ability to gain a little bit of mana from your foe) is OK but nothing groundbreaking, especially considering how locks can regain mana on the fly from other sources.

Arcane Torrent itself can be devastating when facing casters, but with limited range (Hard to get close to casters when they dont want you close) and soso mana return almost makes it more trouble to use in a volatile situation in PvP.

You can also take into account what you want the character to look like, if you choose an orc, prepare for hilariously-proportioned shoulderpads (Although when the Dev's "Did us a favor" and shrunk them for a patch or two it was even worse looking) or undead and thier gear always physically looking like it should be in red status, I would suppose Belfs would be the Asthetic choice as well, but then again if you rolled horde, chances are you didnt roll for looks.

Sorry guys, its been a while since I posted, Ive been adjusting to pre-med.

G'luck.

I am an Orc and would not change it for anything. Blood Fury is basically another trinket to pop which makes CoD's even bigger

I like having Cannibalize and Will of the Forsaken as an undead.

Since I prefer pve raiding, I have to agree with that.

Undead,.........Undead, Undead, UNDEAD!

Cannibalize- asthetically pleasing when u want to come accross as a bad ***,... and U do.;-)
WoTF- "Who has >>2<< instant anti-fear/poly abilities, with a 5 sec immunity to fear? I do:-0 :-0 :-0

Besides as one guy said,.. Warlocks should look decrepid, nefarious, evil incarnate, " sold their children for a spell that will make a person eat a baby raw" ,...iiisshhhhh. IMHBCCO(In My humble but completely correct opintion)

BEs were my favorite race in WC3, and they are now.

Mine is a BE.

I am extremely new to the game, but I have read a bit about each race and both seem good. I made 4 Undead characters and had fun with them and my girlfriend wanted to make a paladin so I made my warlock a blood elf. It will be a while before I figure everything out, but I like the pretentious way mine stands there and the dance is priceless. I am actually really surprised at how balanced this game seems, I was a FFXI player for quite a while and that game is completely unbalanced and impossible to get anything done. In this game it seems easy... and I am actually having a lot of fun, something which left FFXI as I ground my way through levels (only reason I kept playing is friends were playing with me). Anyhow back to the topic at hand, I don't think it really matters which race you choose, just decide based on your opinion about the race, if you like/hate the look you could decide on that, if you like the backstory of one over another pick that.

My Horde lock is undead and I love him. Poor guy's neglected though because I can't stand the Horde comunnity long enough to actually level him. But if I ever could bring myself to go exclusively horde, undead lock would be the only lock for me.

I have found the opposite to be true.

Besides the Barrens, I find Horde chat to be much more respectful than the Alliance counterpart. Maybe I have just been lucky with server choice.
