Afternoon peeps,

I have recently started a rogue (currently lvl 31) and enjoying it alot using dual swords, im currently using throwing weapons.

My question is, what do you guys use? Im thinking of switching to a bow or gun at the moment as there's not alot of throwing weapons on the AH or given via quest rewards.

Do bows and guns tend to have the better stats on them for Rogues in the early levels?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I just went with whatever would give me the biggest boost while leveling.

Go for the one best ranged item slot in terms of stats.

on 70 that will be a thrown item for rogues. Plus you get the deadly throw ability which has its uses. But thats 70

till then go for whatever gun, bow, xbow, thrown, spear you find has the best stats at your level.

personally it does not matter what you pick up pre outlands. it just matters what gives you the highest boost to your
1. AP/crit
2. life/survivability
it's not like you're going to stand in the back and shoot all your mobs to death when you can walk up and pawn them in under 20 seconds. (specially with how easy bliz made instancing and questing these days pre outlands)

I use a gun, and the only time I really use it is if I'm pulling...

Some other times is when I'm frozen and the mob is too far to hit, or if the mob is running away.

Other than that, I barely use it at all.

Thrown until you max out the skill for your given level, you do not want to level up your Thrown Skill at level 70 starting from 0.

Yeh obviously the only time I will be using it will be for pulls, just wanted to know what most of you rogues used.

I'll scan the AH tonight for anything that will compliment my AP/Crit.

While we are on the subject of stats, what stats should I primarily aim for on items, Agi/Sta/AP?

I'd guess all of the above... although I, personally, am a stamina fiend lol.

Can you even use deadly throw if you aren't equipping a thrown weapon?

What are you gonna do, throw an arrow at him?

Which is why its important to maintain your thrown skill, luckily for me I was a noob when leveling my Rogue and threw to pull everytime instead of stealthing.

Actually, keep a gun, a bow, and a thrown handy. Each time you ding, try and level each one as you go along. As noted, thrown is needed for PvP, PvE whatever has the best stats for whatever you're doing at the time.

I have the Consortium Blaster if I need a few more HP (though I could make myself the epic stamina gun), Sunfury Bow for AP, and the Kara thrown weapon for the +hit and +crit. Gear comes and goes quick if you're raiding, and it's nice to be able to swap your ranged out to compensate a sudden lack in one area.

The type of ranged weapon you use doesn't matter at all until you learn the ability, Deadly Throw.

While leveling, Agility > Stam > everything else, until you hit Outland. Once there, things get rather complicated.

as far as pvp, the gyro korium balanced destroyer has the potential for a pretty huge stamina buff for a ranged weapon. but i'd be sore if i missed out on deadly throw. especially if i was using gladiator gloves. i'd use throwing weapons--pvp just get whatever has the stats like people said. just realize the only reason you use the ranged weapon pve is either to pull (who cares about the damage on that, you are going to insta kill it anyway with at least 600dps endgame) or for the stats.

I went with what PsiChi said took the thing that gave me the highest boost, this has resulted in an underleveled throwing skill. Can anyone suggest/point to a guide for easy levelling a ranged skill.

Buy cheap throwing knives, go out to Dr. Boom in Netherstorm and chuck away.

Pre-BC, the Raptor boss during ZG runs was a good place to level ranged skill for non-Hunters.

If you are already behind, just forget it until Dr. Boom, its really not worth gimping your xp rate for a weapon skill at this point.

At your lvl, the naga bow from BFD will probably give you the best stats right now.(+5 agil)
