Question regarding meta gemsFollow

So I made my healing engineering goggles and it has a meta gem slot. I want to put in an insightful earthstorm diamond, which requires 2 red gems, 2 yellow gems, and 2 blue gems. How are gems like Nightseyes counted? Are the counted as a red or a blue depending on what colored socket it's put in? I need more 1 red and yellow gem to meet the requirement for the meta gem and I just got the Kharazan healing plate gloves from Atumen. So can I socket a purple gem in a blue slot to count as a red and a green one in the other purple slot for the yellow?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

OT: I've been out of town for 2 weeks and have really missed WoW! I was so happy to play last night, getting both the epic healing gloves from Atumen and the healing mace from Maiden in Kharazan.

Nightseye and any other gem like purple, oraange and the like count as two gems, such as both red and blue. I know this because I also have the insightful meta, and I don't have any pure red gems, only a few Nightseye.

As Dathur said, the mixed colour gems (purple, orange, green) count as one of EACH constituent colour. So a single purple gem counts as BOTH a red AND a blue gem for the purpose of your meta-gem. Also, that prismatic thingy counts as one of every colour, so you could activate that meta with 2 of those if you wanted. I did that for a while until I could get some real gems cut and socketed.

And grats on the loot! :)

Awesome. Thanks for the info, both of you. Healing plate stuff have lots of blue sockets and some red sockets, but not so many yellow ones. If mixed colored gems count as both, then it makes meeting the meta gem requirement real easy.

If you're a healer you only need 3 gems. gleaming dawnstone, royal nightseye, luminous noble topaz. Only use Dazzling talasite if you need extra blues for a meta.

Another side note about gems (that isn't as widely known) each stat is associated with a color. Stamina is always a blue trait (ie. seen on blue, green, and purple gems), crit is always a yellow trait (ie. yellow, orange, and green gems), healing is always a red trait (ie. red, orange, and purple) so if you know what kind of stat you're looking for, you can get a good estimate as to which gem you want without even knowing what the gem names are. Say I want a healing gem with mp5. Healing is a red trait, mp5 is a blue trait, so I'm looking for red + blue which we learned from kindergarten is purple, which just happens to be a royal nightseye.

depends if your using the normal color wheel or the true light color wheel . .

I didn't learn the true light color wheel till much later than kindergarten. In kindergarten my primary focus was to make sure that I stayed within the lines while coloring (I never could... still can't I'm too impatient)
