So I have been wondering awhile now, is deep affliction viable in pvp and arena. I know how important soul link is but is it possible to make it work.

it's viable in the event that there's no dispeller around. :) of course the threat of unstable affliction always makes em think.

I really don't think that most people even flinch at UA anymore, or it could just be my server... I keep a running tally of people that dispell my UA and I am over 60 in the past week of leveling 50's and 60's. 27 of those actually died from the dmg. Druids are top dispellers it seems, I even 1v2'd a 62 hunter/70 druid at level 61 and took them both out thanks to the druid dispelling before he healed (3 times lol).

I'm almost positive druids can't dispell magic, they can remove curses (CoA, ..) but I swear they can't dispell magic (UA, corruption, siphon life etc..)

It's great for Battlegrounds, where you're usually standing back slapping DoTs on everything. In Arena, it packs a lot of punch, but you go down fast to Warriors and Rogues or when focus fired. Of course, if all of those foes have 4/5 DoTs on them, you can make a significant contribution even from the ground xD

On that note, I just thought of a badass level 80 skill:

Shallow Grave

When you die in a party or raid group, refreshes all of your debuffs on enemies, but they do 50% damage. These debuffs cannot be dispelled with the exception of Unstable Affliction.

Ultimate backup plan: not too overpowered since the Resilience nerf and healers, but if your partner is tough you can win anyway.

I just thought of another ability:

Hell No!
Instant cast 30 min cooldown
Reagents: Soulstone.

If the Warlock is killed with an unused Soulstone in his inventory, he may choose to destroy the Soulstone in his final moment to create a Nether Rift which spawns forth a legion of Felguards to attack everyone within a 30 yard radius. The Nether Rift also causes 100 shadow damage every 3 seconds to nearby players. The periodic damage is affected by the Warlock's spell damage (100% coef.).

I'd always carry a Soulstone on me.

i'd still say it has viability. maybe not so much in 2v2, but 3v3 or 5v5 definately if you're in a group with another caster who does dot damage. UA is priceless in those situations. same for protecting a paladin/mage from having their bubble/iceblock mass dispeled 'cos of the risk of pulling off a UA from one of their own team mates ^^
