The Case of the Missing Trap?Follow

For the last few weeks, I've been having some trouble with my traps. although it's happened to me in Kara, it happens most often in Auchindoun.

I'll lay my trap, and freeze my target. Once my CD is up (most of the time, right away), I'll put my next trap down to wait for the break, but POOF! It's gone. My trap-prime timer still counts down the minute that it's suppose to be there, and keeps tracking the 20 seconds that the mob is suppose to be in the first trap. But once the trap breaks, the mob doesn't get retrapped, and I'm stuck with a CD before I can get it again.

It happened to be at least 5 times in Heroic Sethekk today, and killed me twice. Has anyone else had any of the same issues?

Seems to me that you're laying the trap down too close to the existing trap, triggering it instantly.

Try laying it at least a full body length (that's human or taller) away.

But if this is not the case, I hope it's not a common bug, as Moroes will get a LOT more interesting. Well, for anyone but SV anyway.

I thought that that might be the case. I tried putting my traps farther away, and it still seemed to happen. I can try to set it even further, though. I just figured that if it was triggering right away, it would take another 20 seconds for the trap to break (not the case), and my primed-trap timer would go away.

Same problem, I found I was still too close. You need to be out of the trigger radius of the trap if you don't intend to reset the trap you have triggered.

Sometimes I'll stand by my CC'd mob and keep dropping a trap on them, it will instantly reset the first traps timer, so I'm good for another cycle. With my build they may get one shot in on me before I drop another one but sometimes they don't. It's like invisible chaintrapping.

If I need to trap something else, I must get a couple steps out of melee range of the trapped target, so get to ranged weapon range and take two more steps away. I usually just make my way to the other side so my pissed off trapped target has a long way to run when they break free. Kinda like trap kiting.

Hmm, I have not noticed any issues with it. I was on trap duty for Moroes the other night and kept 1 of the 4 elites trapped until they took out the first 2. I usually run to the other side of the room to give myself the time needed for the cooldown. If it breaks just cc-shot them to slow them down.

I'll keep a closer eye on them this week in Heroics and see if I notice this bug.

I think I came to the final conclusion that it wasn't a bug, I was just being a huntard. Well, in a way... It's kinda hard to set up traps far enough to the original target to prevent them from setting off right away, but at the same time, keep it close enough so other mobs don't wander in to it.

I guess that's not as big of an issue now that we can trap more than 1 mob again.
