New warrior in trainingFollow

Hi guys,

I've started leveling a warrior (level 16 now) and have a few quick questions.

From what I've read, the general consensus is to level up through Fury until I hit Bloodthirst.

(1) Are there any talents you'd recomment skipping?
(2) Are cruelty & unbridled wrath the best choices for the first 10 points?

Currently I have Heroic Strike, Rend, Thunderclap, Overpower. I have been using Heroic Strike a bit, but it hurts rage.

(3) Should I avoid Heroic Strike unless I have lots of rage at this level?
(4) Do I just keep Rend up and spam Thunderclap? (Overpower when it is up & Hamstring on almost dead runners)
(5) Is Demo shout worth the rage? or just use it when I have extra rage?

(6) At level 20 do I change to Cleave spam with keeping Thunderclap & Rend debuffs up?
(7) At level 30 do I switch to Slam every time it is up as well as Cleave spam?

Sorry for so many questions. I am an experienced player (3 70's & a 63) but have had trouble finding a detailed "beginners" guide. Plenty of stuff with end-game specs and what to do when you have all of the classes abilities but not a lot for when you are hamstrung with limited abilites. Though i'd come and ask the experts :)

Disclaimer : The following are my opinions based on my personal experience in playing an Arms warrior for 2 years >_>

When I started, 5 points went into Cruelty. Then, I made a bee line for the Arms tree until I got Mortal Strike. I put my remaining points into fury. Kinda miss the days when Tactical Mastery was in the Arms tree :P

1. Unbridled Wrath hehehe.

2. Cruelty is good. Unbridled Wrath is not that a good talent compared to
Imp. Demo Shout. I would recommend Imp. Demo Shout.

3. Before lvl 40, Heroic Strike would be your bread and butter skill. Rage would be a slight problem until you get higher and use higher damage weapons. Opening a fight with Charge is good practice but watch your surroundings though. Charging into a camp with 3 or more mobs is not recommended.

4. Rend should be the next skill you use after Charge or first if you don't charge. At your lvl, Rend does a significant amount of damage and it'll help kill the mob faster. I tend to use Hamstring when the mob is at about 40% HP. I used Thunderclap sparringly at low lvls. Not sure about the others.

5. Demo Shout is good in reducing on coming damage for minimal rage. Charge a mob, use Demo Shout and then Rend.

6. Cleave when you are facing more than one mob. If you're fighting one on one, I would recommend Heroic Strike. Keep Rend ticking and Demo Shout up. Thunderclap if you have rage to spare.

7. At lvl 30, I would still stick to Heroic Strike. I wouldn't recommend using Slam unless you have Imp. Slam. I wouldn't recommend using a melee skill with a casting time.

Well, hope that answers all your questions. I don't have experience playing a Fury warrior and I've tried to answer your question to the best of what I can remeber while lvling up. Remember to pick up First Aid and keep it capped. Since you do not have spells to heal yourself, you will have to rely on food and bandages to keep downtime at a minimum. A stack of HP pots is also handy to have around in case you're in a situation where you bit off more than you can chew.

Ahh...I see. Slam is good if someone else is tanking, not so good if your tanking :)

Ugghhhh...wish I had read the descriptions a little better. Heroic Strike costs less rage and does more damage than cleave (on one target).

So Heroic Strike spam it is :( Painful at the moment as I never seem to have any rage (my gear is still really bad though).

Thanks for your help.

slam is good if you have a 2h and are dpsing. it's really one of the best abilities we have as warriors.

half the rage of Bloodthirst or Mortal strike. if you spec into it it's adding only (depending on latency and player skill, hand eye control, graphic cards suckage, etc...) a small amount of time to your auto attacks for roughly double dps.

you get it when you get berserker stance. lvl 30. which is quite a bit before you should get BT or MS.

slam is by far one of the warriors best leveling abilities.

As soon as you get it swop from HS spam to Slam. It is amazing how much of an increase in dps it is if you are using a 2hander (which is recommended). Before that HS is the best damage ability you have.

Cruelty is the single best talent warriors have in the first tier of any tree. Possibly altogether!

Personally I prefer Unbridled Wrath to Imp Demo shout until later levels. You need all the rage you can get.

Even when you get to level 40 and get BT or MS you will still use slam often. No CD, half the rage and excellent damage.

Just my 2c

Disclaimer: These are my opinions found after leveling 2 warriors, 1 to 70 as fury and the other to 65 as Arms (which I've now swopped to DW fury as I have +9.6% hit).

But when soloing I should stick to the Heroic Strike as the Slam will get casting knockback? Or is it not affected by getting hit like other "spells"?

There's no knockback on it.
