Another Mace/Sword questionFollow

#1 Jan 09 2008 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
I know sword spec is a flat out 5% chance to do another attack but what is the proc percentage of mace spec and the durations of it's stun with deminishing returns? Also, how long does it take for mace spec's deminishing returns to go away?
I'm planning on doing 2v2 and 3v3 a lot more than 5v5 because getting 5 of us on a the same time is rather difficult.
What enchant should I get on the weapon if I'm getting the Merciless Gladiator weapon?

Also, I know this is a little off-topic but I hear that many people use sunder armor during pvp. How much does it actually help?

it depends on the speed of the weapon. it WAS;

3.8 Speed is about 11%
2.8 speed is 8%
1.7 speed is 4%

But i forget what they got changed to. I think it's about a 1% loss all around.

It still is very good for 2v2 fights, but i recommend sword spec for 5v5. But mace spec is still very very useful for 5v5.

Sword spec is just the best spec for DPS that we have.

Sunder during pvp ... well... if it's 1v1 on a bear i use sunder. if it's 5v5 or general BG pvp, i don't.

Sunder is what i would consider a extremely situational based ability, and i'd dissuade you from using it in nearly all pvp.

Would swords be as effective in 2v2 as maces are?

probably not as much. it really depends on how much dps you can support with pvp gear. mace spec is easy mode for most pvp. sword spec is just more damage than any other spec for pvp.

people will argue that mace spec is at least equal to sword spec, that a mace stun is essentially an extra attack. except it's not spike dps, and healers can and do heal though stuns.

both are choice for pvp. mace just tends to have the advantage in smaller fights, and sword is good for all around fighting and higher end dps in pvp.

What really really ticks me off is how enchants don't show on swords and how ugly that sword is. Yeah, I thought about that before. I realize that when I fight a team with a healer, stunning a person who is not the healer would just allow the healer to heal through the stun. But if I was smacking around the healer, he'd be stunned. But then if it was a 1 hybrid, 1 healer fight. I wouldn't have enough dps to kill either of them.

as for enchants, i'd suggest savagery. it's just a cheap consistent enchant.

funny that bear druids are the only class where sunder even makes a difference.

Sunder makes a bigger difference against lower-armor targets rather than higher-armor targets, actually. It's incredibly good against Priests and Warlocks in Arena, although pretty much anything that'll stand still and you will spend more than about 30 seconds trying to kill is a good target.

Is it true that sword spec extra hit ignores resil?

No.

but for purposes of what sword spec does do, it isn't affected by resil like axe spec is.

the effect that happens when you proc sword spec isn't affected by resil, but the damage that occurs is affected by resil.

Im not the OP but im a little confused. So if I want to haul **** in arena I want sword spec? Ive always heard the mace proc is way more usefull. I was kind of dissapointed because I like the look of swords over maces. So what is it? Does it make a REALLY noticeable difference?

Thanks!

I hear mace spec is not as good without Lolherald.

mace spec and lolherald of course is win.

swords just do better spike dps. they both are very good options for arena.

If only enchants showed on the sword... it'd make it look a lot less hideous.

mace spec is superior against druids, every other class can be a tossup.

Lolherald doesn't add all that much.

Just put on 2 daggers, faster the better, and use hamstring over and over again. It's a secret 'rogue' technique passed down from warrior to warrior.

Just macro
