The Dreaded Re-specFollow

#1 Jan 09 2008 at 3:51 PM Rating: Decent
Ok guys, so here is the problem. ive had my warrior fury spec since i started playing him so i can lvl faster when i solo. he is lvl 45. im wondering if now would be a good time to respec him, and should i go all prot since i want him to ba tank? i know prot is the best for tanks, but is it too soon to switch since i do about 98% of my lvling solo. im afaird that this will really slow down my time it takes to lvl. also if i do got prot now, do i gvie up my dual weild and pick up my shield?
Any advice from you Vets on the Set would be greatly appreciated

At your current level, you shouldn't really need points in prot to tank instances, though it would help.

You should just try tanking an instance a bit lower than you first, get yourself a decent sword'n'board.

That way, when you hit outlands, you'll have some experience under your belt. Then you can respec to prot, and start some uber tanking.

I didn't spec prot until 70, and I tanked fine until then. Especially once I started running Outland instances and learning how to really tank.

You should respec though, to Arms. Arms is way better for leveling than Fury, imo.

Fury is better for leveling for the same reason it's better for DPS. Sustained damage, and greater survivability. Arms is awesome, don't get me wrong. It's all about burst damage though. If it's a matter of using 2H over DW, 2H fury will STILL be a better way of going about things. The age of arms leveling is pretty much dead because of rage normalization, among other things. Fury just has WAY too many things going for it. Flurry, enrage, imp. slam, flurry commanding presence for extra AP, piercing howl (which is AMAZING for the grind), sweeping strikes, flurry the new weapon specialization, rampage. Did I mention flurry? The highest damage increasing talent a warrior has? Fury is stacked nowadays. Arms is a buildup to MS, which is honestly outclassed by Slam far and away when used properly for leveling and DPS. If you could get your enemy to stand still long enough in PvP, the only thing you'd ever use MS for would be the healing debuff.

I just hit 50 on my fury warrior. And i honestly have to say it is 100x's funner now that i'm 50. Its weird but just give it atleast 5 more levels. I tank any instance perfectly fine.

Good luck!

Didn't read all the posts, but here's my experience:

I've been Fury specced ever since I began with my Warrior. Haven't had that too much trouble with doing instances as a tank, you just need the right equipment. I think it would be too soon to respec to Tank now, I would aim to change at lvl 60 the soonest. I waited until 70 to respec. You can take some in protection now if you feel it needed, but no point in spending money on respeccing yet.
