What other classes do you play?Follow

Just curious, for those who have alts (or if your druid is your alt), what other classes do you play and how do they compare to your druid (personally for you)? I'm interested in what other classes people think are good or bad matches for people who love druids.

Forex, you'd think a feral druid would like playing rogue also, but I've been ruined for rogues by my druid. The basic questing/grinding playstyle is too similar, and I am constantly comparing the two and saying, but if I wanted to do this, I'd just play my druid. (I know that's not really fair to the class, just my personal experience.) I've had 3 rogues now that I've started and stopped playing, and I'm unlikely to try again.

I'm a definite altaholic. I leveled a paladin to 10 last week just so I could say I've played every class up to at least 10. I'm also forever playing them up to 20 or 30 and then deleting them cause I don't like their name or their hair and starting over. Right now my favorite alts are low level, but such as they are:

- Undead fire mage, level 22. I like this one because the glass cannon is so much different from how I usually play, it makes a nice change when I want to mix things up. Plus Undead rock.

- Draenai resto shaman, level 19. I like hybrid classes; this has a lot of the same flexibility I love so well in my druid, but it's different enough or me to enjoy it for its own sake. I'm leveling her up Resto just for fun. I think this is the best class for leveling in the healing spec, frankly, and the survivability is great.

- Human holy priest, level 27. I actually don't love my priest that much and would never play her solo. This is my family "dungeon party" character for the couple times a month we have time to group up for an instance.

And of course...

- Tauren druid, level 3. :D I love this one because she reminds me so much of my night elf druid. (Well, I'm going to hit 70 some day and I'm mostly just going to putter with crafting and farming til the expansion comes out; I will need an active druid!)

Well, personally, I've got 2 druids (a 55 balance, and a 16 feral that I made a couple days ago because, while I love balance, I also love feral...that, and I wanted an alchemist/herbalist of a decent level and druid is my favorite class.) I've also got a 51 paladin (prot spec) who I enjoy, but I've gotten really frustrated with trying to deal with caster mobs (who are fine singly, though annoying, but more than 1 is potentially deadly), a 62 enhancement shaman (who, honestly, is on hold at the moment just because I got bored with 2-button playstyle...stormstrike/earth shock ad infinitum...snore), and various other low-level alts, including a warrior, priest, hunter, rogue, and mage. I keep meaning to play a warlock but I never get around to it.

My biggest issue with the rogue and warrior is the lack of any kind of healing, or really, seemingly, anything to turn things around when things go bad. If I get a couple unexpected adds on my druid, I can usually heal through it and survive, but with a warrior or rogue, I always end up dying, and I hate dying.

My main is a 70 hunter. Druids used to give me so damn much trouble that I just had to make one to find out more about them. I got him to level 29 and am in a small PvP guild that does little premades and stuff. I have a blast with him and I really enjoyed leveling to 29. We plan on taking about 10 of us from the guild and leveling together to 39. Everything I read says that druids get more fun as you go so I am definately loking forward to opening more of the classes potential.

48 pally, just speccd ret from prot. TONS OF FUN. i am really looking forward to getting him to OL and going holy. For some crazy reason i have a lot of fun healing so a holy pally is a natural choice.

29 Warlock, another very fun class, i love being Affliction spec. I can farm and kill stuff all day long and never need to take a break. Very enjoyable class so far.

32 mini hunter, hunters rock. Nuff said

various toons below 20, shammy, priest, mage.

I just enjoy the difference each class offers. if i get bored with an alt (or main) I have a lot of versatility available.

My 60 feral druid is my main. I got bored with my 58 MM hunter (nelf, forgive me) and while I loved my 45 dwarf arms warrior alt, my RL friends went horde so I rolled a tauren. Never regretted it.

I've also got a 44 troll fire mage whom i'm digging a lot -- since I'm feral an uber-nuker is a change for me. A 39 orc enhance shamman who's ok but really a side project; lots of fun in groups but dull to solo. I hope to take him resto at higher lvls, after I get the druid and mage to 70.

The only toon I miss is my warrior because they are so intricate to play in a different way than a druid. When I'm grinding in cat form I'm just pouncing, doing the mangle/shred thing then spam mangle til rip or fb. Bear is just mangle spam, with a swipe or two mixed in. I miss the variety of warrior melee abilities. But I rolled a lowbie undead warrior last week to level up with a friend and am already bored by staying in one form the whole time....

I have only started a Druid in the past few weeks, got bored of never finding a tank when I needed one, HAHA guess I still won't.

My main was my 70 BM Tauren Hunter, half kitted out in Kara gear. He unfortunately was replaced as my main by my 70 Holy Bloodelf priest, as she raids a couple of times a week.
Liked the idea of a druid, to be able to do BG and Areana's with as my poor priest seems to get squished very quickly, and well my poor hunter has been demoted to farming. So I have my Druid to level 40, and is going well, enjoy it something a little different.

(Now you see me, now you dont, watch the kitty, big bear, frightened you :) )

i have so many characters....but only six of em are at or past the 40 mark.

the first is my druid. hes a level 70 tauren, and i dont play him as much as i used too, but i still hop on from time to time when i want to make others feel completely helpless against me in pvp.

the second is my warrior. hes a 70 night elf, and i play him most of the time now. hes pretty well-geared, and most of what i do on him is pvp, but i do a little raiding as well.

next up is my 49 twink resto shammy. shes a draenei, and with my 3k health, 3400 armor, and +300ish healing i can keep a number of my friends alive thru hell and high water. she tends to attract a lot of attention from people tho. i think its the way she shakes her tail personally.

then we have my second druid, a 40 night elf. im leveling (slowly) to 70, but my recent discovery of company of heroes has cut into my WoW time by quite a bit. i'll prolly spec resto with him when i hit 70, just because ive got my tauren for feral if i want it, and my warrior is already pretty front-line. plus i need a support class to payback all my friends for the awesome help theyve given me on my warrior. also, i like the resto playstyle best. nothing is a stronger force multiplier than an effective healer, and i like knowing im the backbone thats keeping my team from collapsing.

the next two are both horde chars, level 46 war and shammy, tauren and troll respectively. i dont play them much anymore, but once in awhile ill hop on and tool around with my war and his engineering goodies, or nuke people as my elemental shammy.

NORM!!!

Good question, cake.

At the end of the day it's SO hard to get into another toon that can't stealth, buff and heal itself and its friends, and with the click of a button have a fat armor boost or be running 30% faster than the competition with off-the-charts attack power. I guess I'm a service-oriented soul, because I'm really only happy when I'm tanking or healing...best if both in one fight. : )

The only alts that I've taken past 10 are:

- A level 35 human warrior that was my firstborn...rolled him during the trial period that got me hooked. Abandoned him once I discovered druidness, but now I'm kinda getting into him. He's my most played alt of late. I like seeing actual weapons fly in combat, and am getting the hang of the many more combat choices/options, but still feel SO gimped as far as pulling a tough fight out of the fire by healing myself or running the heck away. I'll probably cost-effectively-semi-twink him at 39 and leave him there.

- A level 25 gnome mage that I rolled many moons ago but abandoned in the teens cuz I got sick of dying, and my druid was so much more fun and versatile. I will never roll another gnome because I can't stand the low line of sight and pipsqueak voice (I'm 6-2 235 and used to being "big"). Now in the 20s I kinda like soloing with him, and especially like duo'ing with a more rugged class that can hold their attention while I do a handy combo of nuking and on-the-fly cc, but oddly enough I don't like running instances because I hate standing at the back spamming different types of fireballs with an occasional Sheep. He's a nice change of pace when I feel like nuking/cc'ing, but no way I'm leveling him to 70.

- A level 19 druid that I rolled on a PVP server with some real-life buds. My thinking was that I'd level balance and then go resto, and move her to my main's server so I'd have druidic tankage, dps-age, and healage, but now I'm not liking the look up at another run to 70 with a class I know so well all over again when I could just respec my main for a bit.

I started with a hunter, got to 60 pre-BC and did some raiding. Leveling a hunter is alot more fun then it was at endgame, it was so hard to find groups. I got frusterated with not being able to do anything but PvP and PvP sucked for progression so I abandoned it. I did briefly play it again post-BG and it turned out to be alot more boring then I remember it. No wonder it's chinese gold farmer's class of choice. And it wasn't even as good at soloing as my druid to boot.

A couple months ago I started leveling a S preist after my druid kinda stagnated in terms of progression. In terms of DPS, it's completely different. Druid dps is extremely bursty going completely nuts for 10 seconds then really slow the next 10 seconds. S Priest is 100% constant DPS, no burst what so ever. It made me be more aware of my own threat since it wouldn't be threat spikes that killed me but simply putting out more TPS then the tank can generate. It made me better evaluate a tank and be more aware of my own threat then I was on a druid. Putting up VE is a significant boost to overall threat and some tanks can't hold it, going from a standard dps cycle to a mana burn cycle is also a big boost in threat. With a big portion of that threat being DoTs and added effects on damage, a S Priest also can't stop generating threat as soon as they pull aggro so threat control needs to be proactive rather then reactive. It also helped make tanks without threat meters one of my biggest pet peeves >.<

But I'm still a druid at heart. I can't help but instinctively go do a druid thing and forget that I'm not a druid when I play my alts. I've lost count how many times I've went to battle res or innervate the healer on my priest. Or go to ghost wolf form on my shammy and get annoyed every time because it's got a cast time lol.

Rarebeast - 70 Feral Druid - It is what I am - all others are just diversions.

Rareone - 70 Survival Hunter - Done 1 Kara run and got 3 epics including Legacy, so not too badly geared. Survival is awesome for 5 mans :) Still need better gear to be really good in Kara. Only my druid really runs Kara because I want the badges

Rarebull - 70 Frost Mage - Only just got Kara keyed then has been left for now. Lots of fun kiting mobs (stuffed if they are immune to chill though)

Raress - 63 Shadow Priest - I was amazed that they can basically just tank mobs. For non-elites I don't even use shield (costs too much mana) just VE & VT and Mindblast/SW:pain or SW:Death - and you still have both the shield and fear for emergencies. I will leave this guy shadow, but still collect a healing set (the druid in me) :)

Raredude - 43 Enhancement Shaman - found this guy really tough to level with early on. But getting mail armor, windfury, dualwield & stormstrike in the last couple of levels has made an amazing difference. Can put out some crazy burst damage. A mob can be dead in 5 secs, or if no procs, can take a LOT longer. Really enjoying it now. Planning on making him Resto at 70, but will keep enhance & elemental sets as well :)

Rarelord - 32 Ret Pally - Not particularly easy to level so far and not very interesting either. Very limited attacks/abilities. I'll probably respec to some sort of Prot leveling build at 40 or so an will have to re-learn how to play :) Planning on making him Holy at 70 as well.

Rarebone - 20 Rogue - Still experimenting with this guy. Surprisingly different attacks to the druid. I really need to do a lot more reading on rogues to learn about how I should be speccing. Looking forward to getting distract soon - it will make stealthing through without being seen much easier and using my high damage opening moves much easier on patrolling targets. I don't remember my druid having so much trouble stealthing past things (it was a long time ago I suppose).

Rarelock - 16 Affliction Lock - Finding this pretty easy at the moment with my voidy out. Can take several mobs at once quite easily & very little downtime. Don't know how I will spec long term, but probably affliction at this stage.

Rarebob - 14 Warrior - I think I need to respec this guy already having done some more reading and working out which abilities I am actually using :( Seems to be permanently rage starved which really hampers my DPS & leveling. Pulling adds certainly shows me that I am not a tank yet!

One big difference beteen classes that speeds up leveling is the ability to escape if you pull adds. The hunter is king at this with feign death & aspect of the cheetah. Mage has his manashield (and ice barrier) as well as frost nova. Priest has shield & fear. As a Shammy & Warrior (at lower levels), pulling an ad or two was almost automatically a death sentence. The shammy totem to taunt the mob can help but at lower levels they kill it pretty quick.

Being able to escape and go back for a 2nd attempt without a long corpse run makes a massive difference to your leveling experience. Of course, all this is irrelevant if you have a friend to level with (all my guildies have alts at wrong levels).

I tend to go for an opposite alt, like one mail/plate, one leather/mail and one cloth.
Healing vs. tanking vs. dps.
Pure melee vs. Hybrid vs. Pure Caster/cloth class

Maybe even consider which tradeskills that fit so I don't end up grinding the same skills on the alts, which I think gets boring since you'd rather just log the main and use their already trained skills.

Personally I just made a hunter alt to play with some friends that recently all made low lvl chars/just began playing.
I find hunters sort of far from druids as their ranged melee attacks + Pets are pretty far from how a druid works, but I can still use LW to make stuff for him, and have mining + engineering on the Hunter.

Anyway that's what I did, I suppose Mage, Warlock Priest are all pretty far from druid in the sense that they are all dependant on their mana/spells where all druids has forms and such.

My main is a human affliction warlock, now heavily into raiding. I started with a human mage, played him up to 45 but got so bored with the routine that I gave him to my son. That's when I created the warlock. I guess I am a warlock at heart as I have taken him furthest into end game content.

Figured I would "take the challenge" of going through all the cloth classes, so next I created a PvP healing priest (NE), great fun, but my other son was complaining about how hard it is to level after hitting lvl 22, so I gave the priest to him at lvl 32. He's now a Shadow Priest.

So now I have a balanced NE druid as my alt, and I am really enjoying it, all the forms, different playstyles, being able to heal/DPS in instances. Nice being able to get hit without dying for once :-)

Started as a resto druid back in the day and levelled various alts as I went along (most to around 20), probabnly played my paladin most frequently (she was 57 when I quit the server) with my warlock second (got to 35).

Rerolled server (and sides) and made a priest that got to 43 before I decided I preferred alliance.

Fresh alliance server and I picked a hunter as I didn't want to be stuck in the healing role that I had been on my previous toons (obviously expcept the lock). Got to 60 amongst many hilarious Ni Hio! whispers (some peoples sense of humour, or lack thereof, amazes me) only to find that my guild couldn't progress without - you guessed it - healers. As I'd already played healers and wasn't happy with the hunter playstyle I decided to reroll.

Went for a feral druid this time for levelling and worked on my tank kit as it seemed quite interesting to try that. Was pleasantly surprised when I was allowed to tank quite often in instances even at level 60 (this was before TBC and the introduction of mangle and there were a lot of negative stories about druids not being allowed to tank).

BC came out and I took my druid to 70, at some point I transfered my paladin over and levelled her to 70 (needed healers again) and levelled my hunter as I went along too.

I've always been a fan of alts so I frequently level different classes as I go along.

Decided to take my mage to 70 and she is currently my main (as we had an opening in the guild), next on the cards is my original druid (who I transfered over and is busy healing for some of my friends alts and levelling in the process) and my alliance priest (which I wish could be healing instead of my second druid, but she's too low).

I guess I'm a bit of an altaholic, I love the different playstyles of various classes and whilst druid is good for this I fancied a change. The only classes I've not really got into are shaman (18), warrior (43) and rogue (37), I like them, they just don't really appeal to me as much as the other classes.

My first character and always main will be my (NE) druid. I had friends who played alliance and so rolled with them. Still wish I'd been horde. Leveled her to 60 as feral pre-bc and didn't have the time to raid so turned to altism to assuage my wow addiction :P After BC leveled her to 70 as feral again and respecced to resto for my guild/friends for Kara.

After being severely punished by warlocks in PvP (pre-mangle days) I decided to roll a - yes, you guessed it, lock. She was so much fun and is my most played character at the moment. She has most of her T4 and is just starting now in SSC.

Now also have a 70 warrior whom I leveled as DW Fury and is now a tank. Have another 65 warrior (Don't ask me why I decided to level a 2nd one) who leveled as Arms and is now leveling as Fury (from 63).

Have played every other tyoe of character to at least level 10 and most of them to 20+ and Shaman(Enh)/Mage(Fire) to 30+.

My least favourite class of all I've played is Rogue. I just can't seem to get into the character at all. Have abandoned multiple attempts, with different races, to level one.

DRUID FTW!!

I tried a Horde rogue, but for grind and level it's just too much similar to a druid, but without healing.
Right now, I'm leveling a Hunter for quick leveling purpose and for gathering purposes. I'm actually enjoing it.
I plan to level a mage too, or a warlock, not sure yet, but most likely a lock.

Tried rogue and warrior but to similar to druid forms with out the utility so deleted by 40's. Have a 40 bm hunter, 43 frost mage, 62 elem shammy and 63 demo lock that haven't been touched in months, and just can't get back into.

My only other 70 is my priest, which I leveled as shadow and loved, made the wrong decision of going holy and gearing him up as a backup guild healer. Now I'm fed up with it, so just pvp occasionally and raid when not enough other healers.

Just started a pally who is now level 8 so not enough to comment.

imo, as a pure feral druid, i think casters/healers make a refreshing break, being a tank or melee again just makes you think of the druid. at least it did with me
#16 Jan 10 2008 at 8:06 AM Rating: Decent
My 70 feral druid is the first char I took past 10. I liked the idea of shapeshifting, and I've certainly not been disappointed. He's still my favorite by far.

Next up lvl-wise is my BM hunter, now 64. I'm a pet lover in rl, so I having one in WoW sounded like fun. Having Smoke, my panther, along has made solo lvling less lonely. I know, he's only colored dots on a screen, but he's still a pet to me. What can I say? I tend to personify my cars and motorcycles too.

Next are my two rogues, a 44 dwarf on the same server as my main and an 37 undead on a pvp. I was attracted by the stealth and the stuns. Stealth is one of the reasons I like both druids and rogues so much. I like not having to fight my way through every singly mob to get to a quest item, and there's a certain god-like quality to walking about unseen. Or maybe I'm just a sneaky ****** at heart (somewhat disturbing, as I've always thought of myself as being pretty straight-forward :-/)

I rolled a Tauren war, mostly because Taurens look so awesome in all that plate. He hasn't gotten much play time, only up to late 20's I think, but not because I don't like playing war. In fact it's much more fun than I thought it would be, just whacking hell out things with a big-*** sword or axe.

I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm a melee kind of guy. I have a 24 Draenei mage that I rolled after watching a frost mage aoe grinding in Tanaris, but I just have not gotten into the caster play style. I tried going balance on my druid too, but just didn't get the hang of it. Maybe someday, but not right now.

Thanks for the cool topic, Norm! ;)

I've tried almost everything...

My rogue didn't get past level 20 (too slow! Plus I'd die anytime I got an extra add). And I hate when I can't spell heal myself.

My hunter is stuck in the high 30's. I leveled up quickly, but the whole 'send in pet. shoot arrows. profit' thing got old really quick.

Warlock didn't make it to 10. Playing my hunter had soured me on pet classes. Plus I'd see a bunch of warlocks running around, with identical minions trailing behind like puppies, and it all seemed too silly.

My priest is around 29. Nothing bad to say about it, but it's kind of a 'what am I' question. I can heal, but so can other classes. I can dps, but not as good as a dps class. and I can't tank so forgetaboutit. Plus the end game prospects didn't seem so good.

Warrior. Never played one. It's what.. like a bear druid (abet with a few more tricks) that can't heal? Meh.

Mage. Actually, I'm active on my mage right now. I kinda like the whole 'extreme ranged dps' and mage is just so different than druid (I've never specced balance and have no plans to) that I can play it just for a change of pace.

Paladin. Never played this one either. Biggest reason is because I don't want to play a blood elf. And playing an alliance race is out of the question. I've tried.. if I can't make an allie druid work, anything else is out of the question.

Shammy. Neat class, though tricky to master. I'd play my shammy more, but my questing friend is a shammy, so I get my fill just being around him (ie, I already know what their end game is like). And shammy is almost too close to druid, in that I might as well just level up my druid instead.

I have a Warrior, Rogue, and Hunter alt so far; Warrior is 47 I think, Rogue is 35, and Hunter is 20. I'd like to tinker with all of them, pretty much, though I get the feeling I won't carry through very far on Shaman or Priest.

Rogue and Warrior play drastically different than their Druid counterparts, don't count them out just because you have rage and energy bars on your Druid forms ;)

- 70 Balance Druid (main)
- 70 Combat Rogue
- 49 Marksman Hunter
- 47 Elemental Shaman
- 45 Destruction Warlock

The rest are < Lvl 40.

Like many of the other posters, I like a change once in a while but I always come back to my Dr00d.

The funny thing is many of my alts were rolled to get a better understanding of that class. The "fun" ones got leveled.

Cheer!

I have 70 druid I love & is always fun to play. I try make him balance but I think going back to feral it is more fun.
I like is my 65 rogue, 66 mage, 63 warlock, 60 warrior, 54 shaman, 50 hunter, 24 priest
But I find all my toons fun. Each one is chancing in different ways.
But besides druid I like rogue & mage most.

My 70 Troll hunter Nosecrusher is my main. I rolled my Tauren Druid Vachequitue because my guild needed tanks and healers and I wanted to give them a 2-fer deal. I also wanted to have a melee character who can get into the mix. I had to learn how to adjust my camera angle accordingly (the wide view of the hunter from the periphery doesn't work when you're up close and personal).

Vache is 61 now and I love him. I don't know if he'll become my main because I'm a damn good hunter and I've put a lot of effort into Nose; but Vache may take over simply because he'll have so many more opportunities because of his versatality.

My 35 lock Eblis was my first alt. I wanted a chanter (disenchanter, actually) and wasn't ready to try WoW without a pet security blanket. He's not bad, but he's a banker only now. I can't remember the last time I took him out of Silvermoon (wait, yes I do, it was when he dinged 35).

And I have a lvl 12 priest that I gave up on. Just wasn't for me. I still use him to warehouse stuff, though.

My main is a level 70 Doomchicken Druid. I have played many other things such as a lvl 60 paladin, lvl 60 mage, and the various other classes not much past about lvl 30. My other favorite right now though is my lvl 70 rogue.

If I ever get tired of blasting enemies to hell and back from range I can just log on to the rogue and stab someone in the back. It makes for a nice change of pace without paying for a respec.
