...When Hunters use them against me in PvP. Fricken' Stun...

It has gotten to the point that I am overjoyed when a hunter uses something else.

STOP TELLING THE NOOBS TO TRAIN BOARS! It makes me feel like a noob in PvP. : (

Thanks! : )

Are you a hunter? I take it from your post that you are on the recieving end of the Boar train. The reason we "suggest" boars is for the fact that pre-30 (give or take) they are the only pet with a movement speed increase, they have awesome threat on single targets, and they are quite tough.

So for a low level hunter grinding exp one thing at a time, they are the obvious choice. For a lower level hunter looking for some PvP action they are very attractive for what they bring to the table. Charge.

I do agree though, I PvP with a twink level 29 druid and lock, and I HATE seeing a hunter sending his boar at me. I do feel your pain, but at the same time it makes me proud when I get my *** handed to me by a well played hunter.

Ya, I know, lol.

I was just being sarcastic after being on the recieving end of a Boar charge from the sixth different hunter today (Multiple ones from each -.-;;)

Nothing is more annoying as a mage then having your spell interuppted by the charge and having to use your FN to get away while the hunter continues to pelt you with damage.

I have yet to find a solid defense yet, although Sheeping the Hunter, kiting the pet to death and then bandaging has proven to at least given me higher survivability...

What exactly do you mean by "not that strong"? It is a general fact that the boar is the best single target tank pet there is, period. If you are talking about DPS, then you may have a point. They do have a reduced damage output, but with gore and bite you will hardly notice it.

I have a question regarding charge. It seems like if there are a second mob on my boars agrolist while he is fighting the "main" mob, and the secondary target moves awayfor some reason (running away, agroing you, feared etc) and thus gets into charge range, the boar will automaticly switch and charge that second target. Is that normal? I mean is competely awesome tankwise it's like a warrior switching targets and keeping stuff of you, but is it intentional?

Yes that is also the curse of using boars in 5man content. They are notorious for breaking CC. Next time you are soloing let something hit you then freeze it close to where you are shooting from and your pig will ,at some point, leave the target he is on and charge what you froze, then head back to the original. You can see where this can get dangerous.

ah that is true, i don't have any CC to speak of yet so I've just seen the upside of it so far :P
But can understnad where it would get dangerous especially in dungeons

Just disable Charge in instances, and it's fine. You don't need to level a separate pet for instances. At seventy, though, a boar will be lackluster in the DPS department in instances.

What do you mean, ugly? Boars are cute. Granted, they aren’t as cute as my non-combat panda cub, but nobody can resist the butt wiggle. Come on, admit it. You secretly smile to yourself when you see a boar stick its butt into the air and wiggle it. Come on, you know it’s true.

Butt Wiggle FTW!!

When I see boars, I think of the whole roasted boar I ate this summer. Me and a few friends got ahold of one, and spent 29 hours in total cooking it. Six liters of Wine went into the marinade/baste, and we had to use a syringe to inject it into the meaty parts of it. All kinds of lovely spices and herbs in the marinade also helps.

The real trick though, is to roast it slowly. Start early, and keep the roller high above the coals. Keep turning it once every ten minutes, and over the course of 12-14 hours, you drop it lower and lower towards the fire. Always baste the thing when you turn it.

When it is done, you will be in heaven. Boar has an absolutely fabulous taste, which pigs just don't get close to.

So, every time I see that butt wiggle, I start drooling. Keep those pets away from me, or me and Humar will have a campfire going before you can say "boarchops".

I've been using my boar faithfully since level 60 (I tamed a Plagued Swine that I named Rancid for rather obvious reasons), and I love the Charge ability in PVP. Mind you, I have hated when a well-coordinated enemy has a boar and Charges me- usually followed by a rogue attack. Smiley: grin And yes, the butt-wiggle-thingy is quite endearing!

I hate mages...

When the sheep me.

I hate pallies...

When they bubble/lay hands.

I hate priests...

When they bubble/fear.

I hate warlocks...

When they fear/dot.

I hate rogues...

When they stun lock.

I hate shammies...

When they toss up three jillion totems.

I hate warriors...

When they charge/reflect.

Did I miss anyone?

Every class has its own way to be a petty annoyance in PvP - its called the spell/skill/ability that makes them EFFECTIVE.

i hate boars for a whole different reason...

i hate them because

1) theyre ugly
2) i like wolves better
3) i think a cat or ravager or wolf is better than boars
4) theyre ugly
5) isn't dps better than armor + health in a raid? for hunters ofcourse...
6) theyre super ugly
7) no lvl 70 boars... >.>

I like Boars, when it charges and starts with 4k threat. The cat I can barely just auto-shoot and stay under pet's threat.

Must be resto druids you're dealing with there because ferals either rip you to shreds as lions or turn into unkillable tanks as bears while Boomkins just root and nuke one to death.
