In another thread, I mentioned my priorty issues now that I have hit 70. I am confused on something however.

Can someone explain to me the "teir" designations? I know there are Tier 1-6 thus far. Also, I know these instances require a raid guild.

I have decent gear - but not good by any means. I am trying to decide whether to do Arena, BG's, Heroics or try to gear up for raids. LOL, I am very interested in the Tier 3, 5 and 6 raid sets and the Arena gladiator set. I'm sure there is a lot I am missing though.

Are the Tier designations ratings for difficulty of the raid? Like Heroics are for instances?

I am going to start back on BG's a few nights a week to get a good 2h'er for possible Arena work. Only thing is, I love the gear of the BG's - but the BG's can be... boring LOL for me. Even when I kill the same guy 20 times in a row. Of the choices here - I like the thought of Heroics - But, Prot. Warrior is hard on the questing part of the game from what I hear. GAaaahahahahhhhh

Ok, enough of my belly-aching. I have to get back to work

ok, i will attempt to help you out with this. i'm not claiming to know everything on this subject so don't take it for absolute truth.

Tiers 1 - 3 are the old world tiers meaning their level requirements stop at 60. i don't know what raids you get them from as i have never done the old world raiding.

Tiers 4 - 6 are the BC tiers. The level requirement for these tiers is 70. Generally speaking, you should collect gear from the previous tier before moving up.

As for requiring a raiding guild, it's not ABSOLUTELY necessary but it certainly helps a helluva lot.

As for doing heroics as prot and having to quest: you won't be doing heroics until you are 70 so the only quests you would really have to do are your dailies and maybe a few others. The dailies are definitely soloable as prot and you will be ready to go any time you need to do an instance.

Hope this helps at least a little.

I'd pass on the T3 (level 60 junk). Actually I did not even bother with any T1-3 stuff. Why bother? No one really sets up farming runs for those things. everyone is rushing to get to Outland fun. *Note* Just IMO tho.

That was made before Outlands stuff, right?... which at level 70 your outlands stuff probably passes that stuff up. T4 is kara, Gruul, and (Magg?) I only have Kara and Gruul stuff, then it's time to move on to The Eye, and harder hitting ones.

Honestly, your gear can use work. There are some normal instances that you might want to consider to upgrade your gear (for tanking -"of the bold shoulders, chest armor from 2nd boss in Mech, shield from bot or honor from Sha'tar, trinket from SL). Then there are plenty of DPS items from instances also... I know the final boss has a killer trinket for +AP. Once it's Heroic ready, then you can run Kara and Heroics for better gear... then on to Gruul, ZA, Magg, etc.

The above was mainly directed for tanking. DPS instance running... You can honestly get away with going with a full set of BG reward epics. And replacing whatever is better.

Eh, there's still a few items from Lv. 60 raids that far outclass anything from outlands. I personally would love to find a guild that does pre-BC raids partly just to experience them, and partly because there are a few items that really do ******* own and would still find their way into my tanking builds, even if I were in BT/Hyjal.

One thing I noticed about your gear is that you have a mix of tanking and dps pieces. No matter what spec you end up taking as your main spec, you will want to have a separate set of gear for tanking and for dps. That Felsteel set is great for tanking but when you are out questing, you might want to get some of the Ragesteel set and gem it for dps. I trade out almost all my gear when I go from tanking to going out for solo farming or questing.

T3 stuff? Like I said I did not even bother looking at it. I'll get on Wowikki and take a peak. However, it's still 25 man raid stuff right?

Just a quick list for your reference on where to get Tier Items.

Tier 1 - Molten Core
Tier 2 - Blackwing Lair
Tier 3 - Naxxramas
Tier 4 - Kara/Gruuls/Magtheridon
Tier 5 - SSC/TK
Tier 6 - BT/Hyjal

and Gyf,
From what I've read, T3 can actually last you until T5.

Ok I guess I was a little misleading. Not T3 stuff in the sense that it isn't part of the actual armor sets. I was just referring to items that came from 60 raids. In particular I had in mind the Glyph of Deflection trinket and Presence of Might enchantment, but there's probably a few others that I haven't looked deeply enough into it to find.

You know, looking at Wowikki Warrior T3 set
That comes with a ring (which is pretty nice), also the Body with the +dodge and about 40 armor, beats my current tanking armor (Jade-Skull Breastplate), however you'll lose Stam and +block.

Don't get me wrong... but it sounds like a PITA to get. I know at lv70 it's hard enough getting the troops rallied for Gruul/Magg... much less a Pre-Outland 25man run XD

Just sounds like it's not worth trying to get a steady group to go. However, Smiley: blush I've never been to Black wing or Naxxramas, so I would not really know.

*edit*HOLY HELL, Naxxramas is a 40 man!!! Now I know why I've never done that.

Styleen's Impeding Scarab from BWL is still one of the best tanking trinkets in the game, hands down.

Considering the fact that the Auto-Blocker isn't really any good post-Kara for JUST that reason (it ONLY has block value), that's just the point. Don't get me wrong, I still had my Auto-blocker, and still used it commonly in SSC/TK content, situationally...but Styleen's is STILL amazing. Most of the top-end guild tanks (Nihilum, DnT, etc.) were STILL using it in TK/SSC content...YES, when they also had the auto-blocker. Auto-blocker is NICE...but it's hardly a trinket you should put on at all times over something else.

Edit: Oh, and Pigeon, I normally would have Impale. It was just a build that I got to 70 with. I only dinged 70 like a week ago after getting my old warrior hacked. I just hadn't respecced yet.
