I got my first piece of equipment last night that had a Meta Slot on it, so obviously I socketed it with a Powerful Earthstorm Diamond. My question is how will the +5% Stun Resist help me in PvE, if at all? Some mobs use special abilities that stun you temporarily for a few seconds, will come into play there, or will it really only proc during PvP?

Also, assuming no equipment that gives +Stun Resist, what is the base resist percentage in PvP and PvE?

I believe that stun resist will only help you in PvP. To the best of my knowledge, NPC stuns don't work the same way that PC stuns do, in that they're not technically classified as "stuns" (I'm thinking mainly of Daze and similar effects here). I could be wrong, but my initial notion is to say that it's a PvP-only stat.

As to resist percentages, 5% base resist rate on even-level enemies (20% if you're an orc!).

There's two things at work here:

1. Mob stuns have to be specifically flagged as a stun by devs, or they're unresistable - sometimes when making abilities for new mobs they forget to add this flag so stun resist doesn't work.

2. Other stuns are flat out intended to be unresistable in any way due to intended combat pacing/difficulty. Many boss stuns are like this.

I didn't think Daze counted as a stun (because really it's not a stun in any way). My impression is they use daze to increase the danger/risk of simply running by mobs mounted, and therefore they don't want any effects to be able to decrease your risk of being dazed.

Couple questions, didn't feel like making my own thread.

Orcs have a 15% stun resist racial.
Iron Will talent in Arms tree gives you 15% stun / fear resist.
Powerful Earthstorm Diamond gives you 5% stun resist.
Surefooted enchantment to boots gives you 5% stun resist.

Do these all stack? Additively or multiplicatively? Is it worth going the whole 9 yards for pvp?

I'm not sure whether they stack or not, but isn't it kind of counter productive to get all that stun resist and spec into Second Wind??

some pve stuns are just plain stuns. most that ive seen actually fall into that category, such as aeonus in black morass (his time stop) or any random "war stomp"-like effect youll see. so it should work on most stuff you find.

the most important part of the PED in pve is not the stun resist but the stam. for tanking, 18 stam is golden. for dps, there are better options.

actually lorimath, surefooted is snare/root resist, not stun resist. afaik there is no stun resist enchant for boots, or anything.

Umm..I like my second wind cuz it tic's harder than they can hit for half the time. But if you don't like to gain any health back, thats cool considering rogue stuns are on different DR's. I do see your point though, don't get me wrong, but honestly gearing up for stun resist for pvp is kind of not worth it since ur not fighting premade rogue teams. /end run-on sentence
