I just came over from FFXI which I have been playing for 4 years now and so far WoW is great but I am confused about something and I could use some guidance. I looked at the stickies and also at the rogue guide but this wasn't listed.
I just started WoW about a week ago and I notice some Rogues use swords for higher damamge, my question is when I check out swords up to lv 18 on the Auction House they all show "sword" as red and I cannot equip them. This also goes for bows, is there a weapons guide that anyone knows of that can tell me how to use swords or other weapons as well as what is needed to unlock the ability to use these items? I would be greatful for any help I can receive, thank you so much!

Sounds like you need to find a weapons trainer and train to use the sword skill.
What you need to do is go to a major city and talk to a guard - ask them where weapon trainers are and they'll tell you exactly where you need to go.

In order to use weapons, you need to train with them. You train weapons at the capital cities. Go ask the guard where the weapons master is. If that weapon master can't teach you swords, ask him where you can learn swords. Then go to that city.

I belive the Sword trainer is in UC so you're in luck. You can also learn 1-handed Maces but I think you need to go to Thunder Bluff to learn that. Bows are taught in Orgrimmar as well as thrown weapons. I think you learn Crossbows in UC and Guns in Thunder Bluff.
