And i absolutely ******* love it!

for pvp.

Yeah, before today i have hardly ever been inside any BG, but today i decided my hunter is going to be a PvP only toon so i respecced and farmed ~10k honor in a row losing only 1 BG (wich was AV...)

Now all i need is some pvp gear =P
(S1 head and gloves should be mine before the weekend though, and i also already gotmyself a ****** 2v2 to get the S3 axe)

Nice! I'm thinking of respeccing for PvP only, only because I can't make any raid schedules. Still can't decide on an MM spec though.

Since you're new to the BG scene, I'll give you a tip: defending the Horde towers in AV is useless for hunters, but hunters are BEASTS at capping and defending the alliance bunkers! Horde towers make it nearly impossible to get any ranged attacks in, but alliance bunkers have enough room for you to easily kite any would-be recappers.

Good luck with the PvP!

Grats on the re-spec, Aethien!

Depending on your current melee weapon, you might want to skip the S1 helm for the S3 helm, and then work on the S3 axe. That's how it breaks down for me when I'm looking at 'best ups fastest' on PvP gear, at least.

I'm also going to be using honor/tokens to buy Vindicator's gear before S1 gear, while I accumulate Arena points. Keeps my options open longer, and might save some Honor or Arena points in the long run.

Well, within 4 weeks i'll have all vindicator pieces and some S1 pieces, so i'll still take the s3 axe first.

And once i've got vindicator + S1 + S3 axe the arena team will die and i'll start another one to fight for a proper rating ;P

Oh, and offense is way more fun then defense in AV...
gogo topping dps meters/HK's!

Haha, your situation is the exact opposite of what happened with me. I LOVE being a BM hunter in PvP (although, I'm sick of PvP since Alliance sucks really bad on my battlegroup). I can deal with warlocks and rogues so much easier with the Intimidate/Bestial Wrath/Bloodlust Brooch/Rapid Fire I-WIN button. I actually find Intimidate a little more useful than Silencing Shot, because intimidate works on all classes.

Since specc'ing to BM, I've been consistently at the top of the HKs, Killing Blows and damage... And I'm fully raid-specc'ed (41/20) and raid-geared. I can only imagine what kind of havoc I could wreak with a 41/0/20 PvP build and a few pieces of PvP gear.

Glad you're enjoying yourself Athien! I just abandoned MM for Surv for the sake of my guild though, gonna miss pizzowning people from afar in BG's and the like.

I don't like intimidate personally, a little bit of CC goes a long way (and I absolutely hate burning cooldowns for some reason) so without Bestial wrath you're kinda SOL if your pet isn't right on your target's ***. As North has said...

Hoping that after all of my guild's raid hype (or one of the other hunters takes the job) I can roll with a proper MM PvP build and go own in AV.

Silencing shot is your best friend...Then Scatter shot.

Meh, locks arent a problem anyway......
Silence + pet on em makes it really hard for them to live.

Rogues are annoying though, but Freezing trap + Aimed +concussive and kite takes care of em.

Its warriors that i absolutely hate.
With charge and intercept they can get close really fast.
They also have big fat 2handers so they only need to hit you 2-3 times and they have insane armor and stamina so they dont die either =(

I like to cast Scatter shot when they try using the good ol' Fear/Drain Life trick too.

Basically Scatter Shot is a god send for kiting. The guy gets to close, Gyf jump turns/Scatter shot/and continues to run away... followed up by a Freeze trap/Aimed shot.

I agree with you tho. I started BG'ing as BM. I changed to MM and now have much more Ranged attack power, and a few more escape tricks. I literally went:
14 Killing blows, 0 Deaths, 39 Kills, and was at least 7,000 over the 2nd place overall DPS guy. (Yar...very, very great BG... one in a million, but notable).

I do miss Wrath and Beast within, but Silencing Shot and Scatter shot (as well as Trueshot aura) more than make up for it.

I speccd MM too, for pve, and im loving it. Doing more damage then sv, and like 40 less then bm. :) Plus with the buff for arcane shot now MM to me is a more then viable raid spec.

Small personal victory:
top dps with 17k above nr 2
top HK's
3rd in killing blows (/shock, i ususally am very low on killing blows.....)
Oh, and even in the top 10 of healing because of bandaging myself 3 times and a few mend pets =P

I love PvP as a MM. While I miss my flag carrying capabilites as a BM, it's way better to be able to defend a spot with ease.

Had a pali come at me in AB yesterday right before I got my invite to Kara and he started off with the hammer... Big mistake. I go out of it and first thing I did was scattered him. trap, Aimedshot, conc. Ran through him, wing clip/raptor strike, Turned back around Arc shot viper sting, followed by frost trap, hit him with a silence as he tried to heal and kept shooting him as now he was low health and back peddling. he started a flash of light at about 10% health and I popped that real quick with my Scattershot. And finished off the fight with a nice auto steady crit.

We won the BG 2000/800

I was the only defender on that flag atm as the rest of the BG group was zerging Farm to try to keep them from getting back into the game.

We won 30 seconds later.

defending is something hunters appear to shine at...
Stuff like Scatter, silence, frost trap and multishot can keep even groups busy.
And 1v1 if we can stand and see our opponents coming they'll be halfdead by the time they're near.

Also, AV offense is good because you can actually go into a shootingcycle vs the captain/boss/towerguards wich helps boost your epeen through high dmg done rankings ;)

I think my best friend pulled the words right out of my mouth and I was completely shocked when he said this.

Quote
"Hunter's are all about control. They have to have control of the fight 100% of the time. Their skills are all based around controlling the fight."

This is coming from a person whos highest level hunter is 12 and plays as a Fury Warrior. (no he doesn't insult the hunters while playing his by meleeing =D)

I looked at him and said, "Wow dude. you took the words right out of my mouth. Good Job!" lol

patch 2.1 was a bad patch for BM hunters. =(

Lost the ability to kite them with AotC and tBW up at the same time... /cry

Well im a BM, but got a pvp and pve specced pet and to be honest I just love it being BM in a bg I dont have many problems only when they get to close it gets a lil dodgy but with traps and intimidation I can get away nice and safe

+ vs clothies (hell even vs tanks) nothing to scare the hell out of them when they see a big red beast charging in on there asses :P

My mate is a MM and each BG I end up doing more kills and damage then him and our gear is equal (think his is a bit better)

So if you ask me what to pick I give my 2 thumbs up for an BM ^^

But I recon its a bit of personal flavor

whoopie, then i wasnt MM anymore XD
I got myself S1 legs and gloves though, and yesterday i joined a guild.
Today they asked me along for kara, i said yes and respecced to Survival.
I walked out with Wolfslayer, Gloves of Dextrous manipulation, Garona's signet ring and enough badges to get the badge trinket.

659 Agi, 25.57% crit, 1922 AP, 7874 hp, 6193 mp unbuffed ^^

I'm a happy hunter ^^

edit: i Also got myself the Boots of the Crimson Hawk pattern for a measly 175g so i'm grinding to get my last 4 points in LW at the moment.
