Ambush macro for sword rge! help!Follow

#1 Jan 08 2008 at 2:30 PM Rating: Decent
im a lvl49 swords combat and trying to perfect my Ambush macro. Ive seen it on several websites, all different versions of code, and even with my own experimentation im lost. I imagined it would be as simple as:

/equip [stealth] Satyr's Lash
/cast ambush
/stopcast
/equip [nostealth] Thrash Blade

the error i get with this is 'Must have a dagger equipped in mainhand'. What actually happens is the dagger DOES get put in my MH slot but the ambush doesnt fire off. i can hit it a second time to make it fire though, but the sword doesnt equip afterwards, i think i would have to click 3 times to get what i want out of this, as is.

can anyone tell me what im missing? is the /stopcast after ambush necessary?

or is it just not possible to do it all with one click? thanks in advance and if anyone knows any forums JUST for macros please leave the link, much appreciated!

....EDIT!...

i figured it out on my own as i was half typing this. I had to remove my [stealth] and [nostealth] text, which i thought would just help me ensure i didnt switch weapons by mistake on mis-clicks, but they apparently just screwed it all up. Im leaving my initial question for anyone else whos had trouble with a similar macro.

If you know any other ways to tweak this to make it better id appreciate it. I just pray it isnt buggy in PvP and battle grounds from lag and what not!

Congratulations on figuring it out on your own. /applaud

Personally, I'm lazy, I use an addon so I never have to worry about it lol. The outfitter addon is a mod that allows you to wear different gear in different situations. You can have ones that you must click or hit a hotkey to change to as well as auto-changing outfits. For example, when I mount up it automatically switches my trinkets out for my riding crop and carrot on a stick. The addon comes with built in presets for each class (and only your class's sets show up). For rogue, there is the stealth one and normal. I just have my glad shanker set to auto equip when stealthed and my glad slicer to equip when unstealthed. Works fine for me :)

But I really should keep this macro in reserve, just in case a patch or expansion kills my outfitter addon.

You know those don't stack right?

I actually was not aware of that. I knew it didn't stack with anything like Crusader Aura but I wasn't aware of Carrot on a Stick not stacking. Oh well, 3% is nothing anyway.

Riding Crop is equal to Carrot on a stick, Mithril Spurs and Glove enchant together, so It essentially replaces 3 items in your bag with one when you reach 70.
