Names:

Hmmm... how did you name your rogue and pally? I used a name from my very old D&D background (Tangent). ;-0 Some people look up magic people from various times. I like to use something others can pronounce easily.

Talents... check the FAQ.

Any other tips... compared to your pally and rogue, your mage will die much more often till lvl 20 or so. Remember that you can run, and it is not a sign of cowardice. ;-)

Oh, and avoid warlocks and rogues in PvP. ;-0

This. You'd be amazed at how many different ways the name Poldaran can be butchered on TS. Also by people mispelling it.

TS.. blech... Vent ftw. FYI, ktangent is fun as well. It's pronounced, "Kay - Tan-gent" but most people call me KT. That works fine.

Now on my alliance, everyone calls me 'Steely' even on my mage.

When my last guild was formed, all of the officers had been long time members of a guild that had always used TS. Our Vent experience was limited so we just went with what we knew. We still use that server for just hanging around with people from the old guild. The few of us who went to a new guild together use their Vent for raids, but I still think that it's far too quiet.

I still prefer TS. Smiley: tongue

Though however it is that they make the Vent guy say things they type in is winning me over because of the hilarity that ensues.

They have a guy who gets drunk and argues with the Vent guy. I love this guild. Smiley: grin

Vent is nice, sure, but we use TS. Why? Free for up to 100 users versus 8 for vent, lower bandwidth codecs (which is why the sound quality isn't AS good, it's still perfectly good enough for the human ear) and the ability to moderate channels and create registered-access chatrooms rather than having to put password protection on everything.

Vent has some nice bells and whistles too. Yes, it uses a 44k codec over the 24.6k that TS uses, but meh. Phantom mode (ghost-listening to multiple channels) would probably be interesting, but seldom used.

TS just works for us, YMMV. I REALLY don't like Vent's licensing, either. Too vague and snarky for me.
