Shaman

* Lightning Shield mana cost reduced.
* Water Shield now restores mana periodically regardless of how many charges remain. Duration increased to 10 minutes.

Um, yay? LOL

Water Shield, we knew was coming and that's cool I guess. It'll still be dispelled every 5s in pvp which is a good mana-waster for others.

And LS reduced mana cost? -.- So many things to fix and they just change mana costs of a non-essential spell. Great. *sigh* alas

I only saw Lightning Shield mentioned once on the PTR, and the Shaman reporting said the cost had been reduced from 490 to 400. Nothing to write home about.

I'm not complaining (in fact I'm freakin loving it!), but does anyone else think they went a bit overboard with the whole mana-efficient thing for us? We used to be the least mana efficient healers, now we're right up there with pallies (if you're resto =P) almost. I love it, but I've noticed a few pallies ***** about it to me, and was wondering if anyone else had the same sentiments.

I haven't been on to experience the new and improved water shield, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. I've lived and leveled through the whole 'no mana' ages, so I'm thrilled to see that we can finally keep (or exceed) other classes. The biggest nuisance for me of the v2.3 water shield was remembering to cast it midbattle and suffering with it's global cooldown. With a 10 minute timer, it'll be much easier to keep up especially for the all important endurance style boss fights. Woot.

The new Water Shield is God.

holy paladins dont really have anything to ***** to resto shamans about, if they are they just want something to ***** about (holy paladins are the best single target healers)

The new Water Shield is amazing. +50 m/5? For free? Refreshed every 10 minutes(as opposed to 1... ugh)? Yes please.

Yes, but compared to pre-TBC days it seems long overdue. I've started redoing my gems to +healing instead of +m/5; it's great.

One thing I'm upset wasn't fixed is Earth Shield: I still can't over-ride the spell if there's only a few charges left. While not vital, it is annoying.

Overall good patch for restos, but nothing special for ele/enh and PvP.

How does the new 50mp5 compare with refreshing it every 60 secs last patch? I never calculated the old mp5.

It's the same. The major differences are the global cooldown you no longer need to waste every minute (2.5% of your total time as opposed to 0.25%), and the inevitable gap between recharging is no longer a factor (since the old one needed to expire before recharge).

Oddly enough, this stopped occurring for me a few weeks ago -- before the patch even (obviously).

Or maybe I just had better +healing when I trinketed the ES up on one of our tanks, but I haven't seen the "There is already a more powerful spell" or however-the-hell-you-spell-it error message in a long time.

I still get it. :( I hate it.

I AM loving the new water shield. It's just way more convenient. Lightning Shield... woo hoo? lol So many things they could tweak, but oh well. At least Water Shield is nice now.

I can override earth shield sometimes. sometimes I can't. It's annoying. Obviously I like to do this before boss fights, or big pulls. But can't always do it. Not too big a deal, but annoying.

Still not sure about water shield. I'm kind of used to having that mana boost 1 minute into a raid boss fight. I just don't have enough experience with this version to know the exact effects. 50 mp5 you guys say?

What happens when you refresh a water shield already up? Anything? I'm still in the habit of refreshing it all the time LOL.

Basically, the result is exactly the same. You get the mana in smaller increments over a larger period of time, but you're getting the exact same amount of MP/5 as if Water Shield were expiring every 60 seconds. The difference is, obviously, since it's up longer you have to cast it much less. That has two benefits.

1. You save yourself from GCD's eating into your spell rotation and lowering your overall DPS.

2. You reduce the amount of human error. It was way too easy to forget to cast Water Shield every 60 seconds, and sometimes it was just too inconvenient to do so, but it returned too much mana to ignore. Far too much conflict there.

Now, for example, I can run all the way through Kara and never be without the MP/5 from my Water Shield unless I'm hit often enough in a fight to trigger all three globes. Being able to cast Water Shield in between trash pulls and have it last the entire fight has virtually eliminated the factor of human error by making it so easy to maintain.

I habitually refresh mine as well. While this caused a severe MP return penalty before 2.3.2, that penalty is now gone. You can refresh it as often as you like, and all you're likely to lose is one pulse of 50 MP.

Well that's good then. I was worried that the same amount of mana we were getting in 1 minute was spread out over 10 minutes now. reducing it's effectiveness by 10 times. I'm glad this is not the case.

All I can say is I love my water shield. And I enjoy healing as a shammy. I like wearing mail over cloth. Though I still am jealous the priest in our guild has over 1500 healing. He's over 300 higher than I am. Our mp5 is about the same, but he has more spirit (as he should, since his healing benefits from spi, where as ours benefits from int). I just wish we could craft epic healing gear like tailors.
