2.3.2 Ret GearFollow

#1 Jan 08 2008 at 9:17 AM Rating: Decent
Apperently today is the 2.3.2 patch.

Here's to hoping they change the "intended" Ret gear, to included PvP gear, to have no SD and give it either AP or Res in its place. now that the very last Ret power no long uses SD.

/hope

They're changing season 3, but not season 1 and 2.

hmm, are they gonna change any of the dungeon gear? i only pvp a little, so i'd like to see some changes to the gear i actualy get... if not i'll continue gearing the way i have been. it'd just be nice of them.

Do they need to? Most of the gear you're getting anyway is warrior gear, which is what you need to get. The only thing you'd be out on is the actual tier sets. Will they change them? I bet they will, but not for a while.

yeah, that was kinda what i was thinking. the tier gear is when i see myself possibly struggling a lot more to keep up. even it they let pallys get the warrior tier sets that be nice... haha. don't really expect that so changing ret tier gear would be good.

if they don't i'll continue to make due. it'll just be tougher to keep up. good thing i like a challenge

crusader strike isn't all there is to retribution...

judgement of command for example... you can still cast heals and need mana to do anything still.

granted, a drastic change like that requires a drastc change to ALL paladin gear that is geared for retrbution.

Is ret viable in raiding now?

Meh.

It is still mediocre dps, what buffage it brings isn't enough to compensate for that fact. We have raiders at the t5 and t6 level saying the same thing. From personal experience the t5 geared ret pally in my guild who can play like a ******* is still middle of the pack. I don't mind having him along, but a similarly geared Fury warrior, rogue or enh shammy would be better dps.

I assumed the main reason to bring a ret pally was raidwide plus 3 percent crit and 2 percent increased damage for everyone in their group. Throw an enhancement shaman fury warrior and 2 rogues in the melee group with them and madness beatdown.

The very fact that Bodh said "Meh" instead of "Hellllllllllll no" and offering some analogy between Ret DPS and a backwards-reach around shows that Ret has made leaps and bounds towards being viable in raids.

Not saying it's completely viable now.... Ret is now and has always been teh fail.

Ret is raid viable yes, not always optimal though. my half-geared mage will put out 100dps more and take 1/5 the dmg of my pally. however there are times when you are glad you brought the Ret.
