What does everyone think?

Blizz wrote:
- Cold Snap (Frost) cooldown reduced. It is now in the Ice Block
position in the talent tree. This ability will no longer reset the
cooldown on Fire Ward.
- Conjure Mana Gem mana restore variance substantially reduced,
(Rank 5 – Emerald) now restores 2340 to 2460 mana and has three
charges.
- Ice Block (Frost) is now available on the trainer to all mages at
level 30.
- Icy Veins (NEW Frost Talent) decreases casting time of all spells by
20% and increases the chance your chilling effects will freeze the
target by 10%. Lasts 20 sec. 3 min cooldown. It is now in the Cold
Snap position in the talent tree.

Personally, I liked having Ice Block in the Frost Tree, but I'm sure people will beg to differ. Also, Icy Veins looks okay but 20 seconds seems a little short.

Icy veins reduces casting time of all spells by 20%

Does this include fire and arcane spells? If so, this is a huge haste bonus...Is Icy Veins going to be a mandatory raiding option? Or is it too far in the tree to be viable from a fire perspective?

Edit...NVM...this has a cooldown....not a haste bonus, but a spell. Sorry..Spaz needs to L2read!

I am indifferent about the IB being trainable. GREAT for fire mages, but it kinda pushes frost mages more into the corner. IB was kinda like a frost mages secret weapon.

Icy Veins seems cool, but I will have to test it to see what kind of results that it brings.

Overall the patch looks good, love the gem changes and the reduction in CD on Oh Snap.

TBH, trainable IB won't make fire, nor arcane viable in arenas, since it's the control that frost provides which makes frost superior to the other 2 speccs. To blizzard: STOP TRYING TO BANDAID THE OTHER TRESS WITH FROST TALENTS - instead they should give arcane or fire a deep end talant which would make your fire (or arcane, depending on in which tree) spells ignore some resilience - that would bring those speccs back into PvP.

Icy veins is a rather badass talent, and it's a nice buff, same goes for the gems, which was really needed. I'm not sure if it's enough, but time will show.

I love the fact that all mages get iceblock. It is so helpful in raids/instances with things like Moroes's garrote and other times where you seem to pull aggro at the last second or have a debuff that it clears.

Mana games: very yes

Icy Veins: Could be an awesome PvP talent, I am excited to steal it from another mage in arenas and so forth

Coldsnap, even better.

Will this make frost > fire in raiding? No. The 10/48/3 build still does more damage than the rest, but with IV and the decreased coldsnap it shortens the lead by a bit.

Will Icy Veins require Frostbite, or is this just another awesome talent that kills AoE?

It would be nice if Frostbite and Icy Veins only affected Frostbolt.E

Edit - my bad - you would never use Icy Veins when AoE, so it doesn't matter. I should read more closely....

I can see where it will not make fire/arcane more viable in PvP, problem is...I have never and will never PvP. Just don't like it.

I LOVE frost and don't see myself switching to frost to get that added dps. Flame me if you want, I just enjoy the frost talents and the frost playstyle.

So I am glad that Icy Veins will boost our DPS a bit!

Yeah what about those of us that are already 44 deep in the frost tree? We get it for free... heh.

Won't change my spec much for arena, but will add some nice burst chances what with the 10% increase frostbite proc.

This makes me sad... Mainly cause I have a 23 Mage and I love Cold Snap... That means I'm gonna have to lose a nice talent and wait until 30+ to get it...

Icy Veins > Cold Snap for leveling. Besides with the new leveling changes you can go 23-30 in a day ;)

I'm happy about the changes. Icy veins is huge for frost mages, and all other mages get free ice block. Whats to complain about?

For raiding as fire, arcane ice block will be huge to have. Even in dungeons and heroics, a nice survival button.

I dont exactly see the downside here (particularly as a fire mage who likes to do the occasional pvp). Does this mean i can aggro bosses and ice block until the tank gets them off me? (Not that I would do such a thing intentionally....)

Fair enough. I just don't get to play my mage that much and I am trying to catch up on my Darnassus rep so I can pick up my Saber mount at 40.

It will be a while before I hit 30.
