Reconsidering Blade Twisting Follow

#1 Jan 07 2008 at 4:08 PM Rating: Excellent
Or you can change the thread title to 'Reaching New Lows'.

This is mostly a 2v2 thing here, I wouldn't advise it in 3v3 necessarily. I suppose it'll work great on a 5v5 man 4dps team, but those aren't so hot anymore.

Here's the spec:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0eboxZGcV0rVt0ruRt

Or this one if you think Riposte is good:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0eboxZGcV0rVt0ruRt

This is an anti-druid spec.

You use wound poison on your offhand and shiv to keep it to 5 and Deadly Poison on your MH. With both stacking, the druid's poison cleansing ability will not be able to keep up.

You keep S&D up and use KS whenever it's up and you go on the warlock/warrior. Hopefully blade twisting, KS and mace procs will keep him from being mobile. Have your healer toss in some burst.

Comments?

Sounds like an awfully big "hopefully".

The second that guy gets 5yds from you and doesn't have any slowing effect you are gonna be pissed, and that entire strategy will bite you in the ***.

The ONLY way I could see it is with maybe an ice mage partner, since they would have the slowing you would need.

Keep shiving.

You can Deadly Throw him if he's going for your partner. And your partner can run toward you to force the warrior back into melee.

Does BT proc second wind?

But not having a sure fire snare seems really sketchy to me.

Even if it does, Deadly/Wound Poison will make it a non factor.

This also opens up Envenom as a Finisher, which might just finish the job if you can get the Warrior low and then land some key CC on his Druid (Blind, PS, Cyclone, whatever).

I'm not saying it's awesome or anything... but it seems like it maybe could work.

Also, since you're spamming Shiv, you'll get decent BT procs (Shiv spam also means more chance at Combat Potency, which further lower the energy cost). With Shiv getting a 10% dmg bonus from SA and being undodgeable as well as landing that Wound poison damage every time (That's what? +63 nature damage per shiv?) the damage ends being not that bad at all.

At worse, you could have a 2nd OH with Crippling applied on it...

Just feels like a Warrior without Hamstring...

Just doesn't make sense not to have.

Blade Twisting being a daze (snare) doesn't proc Second Wind. Second Wind is from Stuns and Roots.

I can't really comment more than that. It sounds interesting, but Blade Twisting is a weaker snare and doesn't last as long as Crippling Poison so iffy.
#8 Jan 07 2008 at 5:30 PM Rating: Excellent
Good to know.

It's also not dispellable, since it's not magic/poison.

It's... pretty meh. I can see it being handy against Druids but I wouldn't want to give up Crippling. It might be a bonus to help lock Druids down, especially in smaller arenas, but giving up Crippling is huge.

Tooltip reads "stuns and immobilizing effects" *shrug*

You're not trying to lock the druid down. You don't beat Warrior/Druid by going on the druid, what are you, crazy? :P The few time we beat that team is when we manage to burst down the warrior while the druid is controlled. It doesn't work to well 95% of the time, but that at least work 5% of the time.

No, you're trying to kill the Warrior and win the mana race against his healer. Without the ability to Cleanse wound properly and with Deadly ticking down at his health... the Druid will need to be a lot more pro-active in healing.

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't daze just slow you down? not stop you completely?

If so it isn't counted as an immobilizing effect, as you are still mobile.
It's counted as a slowing effect, I believe.

Immobilize = Root, not snare.

Test it out in a dozen or 2 battles or for a month. Then come back with the stats and details.

only way we can really find out. Speculation goes only so far

this is really just a copy and paste info wise from worldofming, about a rogue using a very deep combat build to kill war/drd teams.

key to it is wound on OH DP on MH so you;ve always have close to a 5stack of wound on the war and druids cleanse removes the DP.

the deep combat build is 11/50/-

http://www.gameriot.com/blogs/World-of-Ming/Can-Combat-Rogues-Really-Outmuscle-Warriors-Without-CDs-Aretes-Video-Posted/
heres where Tys getting it all from, it also includes a very long video of this build against drd/war which they finally do win, both teams were/are above 2200 i believe, rarely do you see wars lower then 1800 switch to a board.

Yup, that's where I got it from.

That being said, we got some rabbid Ming haters around here, who turns anything coming from his Blog into a flame/***** fest, so I tried to just talk about it without mentioning Ming.

Thanks for killing the thread :P.

He thinks he can actually become Naruto. He should die.

I don't care how much Hokage or jitsu you think you have. You don't.

He also presents a very biased PvP view point; his obession with duels is very odd to say the least.

True.

I like his PVP ideas and whatnot, since what, he has 3 contributors to the site now. It allows for a lot of different views and ideas on situations.

Ming's think of himself as Vince Macmahon. He wants you to talk about him and have a reaction - good or bad.

As many people go on his blog to flame him as to actually read what he says. He's admitted before that everytimes he writes an article, he rewrite it until there's at least 3 things that can start a flame war. Enter Naruto reference, Racist comments, sport analogies, etc. People that openly hate him are pretty much just playing his game, which is ironic really.

I personally find it hilarious. You can rarely get a good in depth WoW article and be chuckling the whole way anywhere else.

But if you can look past that, there's actually some pretty good info and he does have his finger on the pulse of high end pvp. He knows what's happening, who's doing what and who's winning and losing with what spec, etc.
