any tips for spriests macros? and spell rotationFollow

#1 Jan 07 2008 at 12:31 PM Rating: Decent
recently wiped the dust away from my spriest and was wondering if anyone had some useful tips for macros. Also had a question about the spell rotation for leveling I assume its pretty str8 forward since I'm not having any issues downing mobs. Are there any tips for for level 70 spell rotation?

search Shadow Priest FAQs for "spell rotation"

macros:

http://www.wowwiki.com/Useful_macros/Priest#Shackle_Undead_and_focus_on_target

this is what i do with macros:
shackle / set focus macro
use inner fire before casting sw:pain
use trinket before casting VT
all heals are target-of-target (in case i have to drop shadowform & start blasting heals... this way, i don't have to worry about changing my target)

Spell rotation:

Is VT ticking? If no, cast.
Is SWP ticking? If no, cast.
Is Mind Blast on cooldown? If no, cast.
Is SWD on cooldown? If no, cast.
Have I done all the above? If yes, fill in with Mind Flay.
Someone actually took the time to figure out a "rotation" for spriests, and the rotation was over 200 seconds long. It's a matter of keepign spells up or on cooldown and filling in with Flay.

Solo, you really need to feel for yourself. My level of +dmg is enough that VT->Blast->Flay->Flay will take them down to one or two wand shots (the demons in Ogri'la being the only real exception). I used to include SWP, but found it was pretty much a waste of mana as my +dmg got up. If I'm wanting to grind quickly against lower-level guys, I can often switch the Flay for Death and still grind near-endlessly (my current record being 3 hours non-stop in Skettis, I got bored and quit).

Well, leveling up my SPriest lately has made me try to find a good balance of solo rotations. For me, I usually start at max range, VT->SWP->MF->MF->Wand to death. This rotation allows my regen to start ticking during wanding as well spirit tap on death. This also allows me to kill stuff equal lvl and lower w/ very decent efficiency and very rarely have to stop for drinks. As for caster mobs, usually the same but will get closer and mix in a silence after the VT->SWP. I agree w/ Vok, you can probably eliminate the need for SWP once you stack enough +sdmg..

Why don't you just enable self-cast on the Interface Options screen? With it enabled all your beneficial spells will be cast on you, unless you're targeting a friendly.

Are you running around with duplicates of all healing spells? One row of heals with the macro and one without? Or how do you heal friendlies?
