stam stam and more stamFollow

#1 Jan 07 2008 at 12:51 AM Rating: Decent
So I decided to spend the money and actually enchant all my prot gear and I think with talents it puts me over 1000 stam. I'm not going to enchant my head just because I really would like to find something better than D3. But when I got to my weapon I decided that I'd see what ya'll thought. Would it be better to enchant my crystalforged sword, or farm mech for the mana wrath. I don't really need the crystalforged's shield block anymore and the mana wrath has a chunk more int. The season 1 spell damage mace doesn't interest me in the slightest (I don't pvp more than I HAVE to, and yes you have to pvp for Hyjal).

If you do not want the Season 1 Spell Damage Mace...then I would go after the Lower City Exalted Mace. Still has a nice chunk of stamina and int, as well as giving a 159 boost in spell damage.

Since you already have a Crystalforged Sword I personally wouldn't bother trying to get any other blue weapon, and if the Season 1 mace is out of the question, I'd stick with CFS and enchant that. Unless you run ZA and can get the mace from Akil'zon which is what I'm after right now. Has the same Stamina as CFS but has 96 more spell damage and some spell hit. Again me personally I don't think it's worth putting the effort into something else unless it's going to be, literally, epicly better.

The only thing that concerns me about the CFS is the fact that it only has 8 int on it. I only have a 5.4k mana pool, or is that about normal for a paladin?

I'd say that's fine. My mana pool is at about 4.5k if I recall. Pally tanks don't need any Int or mana regen. You'll get all the mana you need from your healer. Heals from others = your mana pool. =)

Yep. One of the paladin tanks I run with has just about 5k mana(I've never ran with the other on my paladin, so I was never staring at his health/mana long enough to notice). So you'll be fine.

i love that mace on my holy pally for solo'ing. however for tanking its too slow. it'll take 12+ seconds to get a 5 stack of vengeance as opposed to 8 seconds with a faster weapon. it'll also make it tougher to keep seals up on multiple targets solo'ing. i'd stick with a faster weapon for tanking...

I've got 14k health and 5k mana unbuffed, so yea the fact CFS only has 8 Intellect on it really isn't a big deal.

And I concur about the Gavel. It's way too slow to be effective. Sure it's still got pretty good stats, and a tank gets a weapon for its stats (particularly spell), but it still needs to be fast enough to get the job done with your Seals.

I wish I could show ya'll my prot set, but I have my closetgnome (best addon name in the world) set to always log out in my healing gear, since that's my main spec. There used to be a site that let you save your char with different gear sets, that's my only regret of having everyone go to armory.

So a guildie goes "lets run heroic mech" and I agree, and what drops? Mana wrath. So now I have both mana wrath and CFS lol.

I still intend to get that on my mage one day.

I'm gonna enchant it with Fiery. Smiley: nod

Ran with a Lock buddy of mine and it dropped. I didn't want it, so he took it and enchanted it with Mongoose. Now he taunts everyone by equipping it in Shatt.

I did the same with an Emerald Ripper. But I don't know that I wanna put down the mats for Mongoose just to taunt people again.

Though I'd actually rather do it with a King's Defender. Since I know a guy who doesn't have his who would go crazy with rage if he saw me with one.

Maybe I'm burning through MP to fast, need to be level 70, have bad healers, or a combo of the above, but I really can't seem to keep my mana pool built up through heals on my lvl 66 Tankadin.

At 66 I have just over 6.2K in mana, and about the same in health. Of course I'm not overly enchanted since most of the gear is still getting swapped out pretty regularly until level 70.

In general when you're outgearing the content you're tanking, the use mana->build threat->take damage->get heal->recover mana cycle becomes less efficient (because you take less damage and hence get less mana back).
I've started looking for +int rings to replace my mitigation rings when I'm outgearing stuff, looks like a better trade-off than simply removing my pants (and getting snarky comments from the rest of the members, reminds me of the Subligar Man).
