This pertains to AoE PvE grinding. Here is my story:

I am a level 28 Frost Mage (AoE specced) on Aerie Peak. My name is Praetoxx.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&n=Praetoxx

My mage was being neglected so I decided to brush off the cobwebs and give it a whirl. Dropped 15g and respecced into a nice AoE build. Downloaded a very very well done How-To video (In Frost We Trust) and it really has outlined almost everything for me.

I feel my technique is pretty good. I have followed the video to a 'T' and take pride in the skill it takes to accurately AoE grind. However, at the end of my pulls my mana pool is fully deplete. With the last blizzard I am praying for it to kill off every mob. I keep my pointer hovering over my Mana Agate just in case I need a quick fire blast or Arcane Explosion. Is my mana pool at a decent level to attempt this? Ive been OK so far but if I can finish them off I usually end up running, drinking, and starting over. I'd like to minimize this.
Any tips would be vastly appreciated.

In case you didn't watch the video here is my cast sequence in most cases:
Mana Shield -> Gather Mobs -> Nova -> Check for Resists ->[If resists happen: Cold Snap -> Run Back to Group -> Nova] -> Blink -> Blizzard -> Blizzard -> Nova -> Blizzard -> Cone of Cold(if mana allows and its needed).

Sorry if the cast sequence was lengthy but that's what I generally do.

On to a second question. I am told in the Video various grinding spots. I am in Duskwood currently. These mobs fall pretty nicely and I'm having no real trouble with them...except respawn rates! There is one area that I have found to be just Godly. I mean, tightly packed mobs (easily a 7 pull) and room enough to maneuver. One problem though, the area is small. It takes about 7 - 8 minutes to clear it. Then I'm stuck. Ive checked the other areas outlined in the Video but they are mixed in with a ton of caster mobs. I'm not sure if the maker of the video just over looked this or what but, as you might guess, makes AoE grinding impossible. I guess, in the end, I'm asking if you have a 'Promised Land' of AoE grinding for my level (28).

I'm pretty sure that's all the problems I'm having. If you check out my armory and see something I'm doing horribly wrong (such as gear choices, talent build, etc.) please comment me here. I would love to hear input from people who have done this before. I cant exactly ask the video questions.

Also, for anyone who is just starting their AoE grinding life or could use a few tips, In Frost We Trust is a nice video to have.

Thanks in advanced for all of your help.

There are 2 threads around here that have to do with AOE grinding. One is by leatherpatches and the other is an AOE Grinding spot thread. Those should help you out.

FYI, AOE grinding is not really as viable for leveling anymore as questgrinding is. Since patch 2.3 they decreased the amount of xp needed to get up levels and gave quests more xp for turning in, so... only AOE grind if it is really fun for you.

I did AOE grind all my scryer rep though at lvl 70. ;-)

1. Any tips to minimize this?
- You are lvl 28 - you can not effectively AOE grind at that level. Plain and simple. You'll hear people argue that you can. You'll see vids. It's just not efficient at that level. I was able to farm lower level mobs for certain cloth drops, but not Green, Yellow, or higher mobs. You CAN farm "At lvl" mobs, but what I'm trying to say is that it is not efficient and you could do more for exp or drops at your lvl than trying to AOE.

2. Where should I AOE Grind?
- You can try several places. Honestly - you need to consider both sides of the ocean... Example: (REMEMBER - I only used AOE to farm lower lvl drops) I made great money farming Murlocs along the coast of Westfall. They drop clam meat and it's an easily farmed item that sells well. (From 1 - 5 Gold depending on who's P.Leveling their cooking.)

3. To the point addressed by KTangent:
- K is absolutely correct. You can burn through levels with Quest grinding. Don't try to level up by hunting mobs. You can gain nice EXP while completing quests (aka - the Kill 10 of X, 10 of Y, and 10 of Z --- Type quests). You gain good EXP while traveling between quests and defending yourself from agro. Blizz knows that the game starts at 70 and the new expansion is going to contain new content for all levels, but it's very much more "end-game-focused" so getting you (as a new toon) or your existing alts to 70 is very important.

if you enjoy AoEing mobs, then do that instead of questing. yes, you can AoE effectively at level 28.

if mana is tight at the end of a pull, either get gear with more intellect or quit using mana shield. i remember learning to AoE in the graveyard in duskwood, and i did it without mana shield. i would position myself so that i could use my wand to grab 3-4 and then run toward 1-2 more for a large pull.

the worgen in southeast duskwood (rotting orchard) are awesome to AoE. clear the few casters before doing a pull. there are 4 pulls of 5+ mobs, if i remember right.

I need to do this. Did you have a healer with to or just solo. Where did you go?

I went up to netherstorm between Kirin'var Village and Manaforge Coruu. There are miner-type blood elf mobs there with a couple blood elf casters. Kill the casters, AOE the mobs. It is done in 3 or 4 pulls and I didn't have a healer. ;-)

Thank you for all of your posts here. :)

The reasons I AoE grind:

1) I dislike questing so, so much. Its the reason my shaman has yet to rise above 63.

2) I absolutely love grinding.

My shaman grinded out most of its levels from 8 - 58. I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm not crazy. I'll never defend that Grinding is better than questing. Its so obvious that Questing yields better exp. I just do what I enjoy. I like instance and grinding. I try to stick to those.
