Mike your guild sounds awesome.

I was in a large guild in EQ and I was on the heal rotation they had regular raid days I think it was 3 times a week. The rules were originally if you were on with your main, the guild was raiding you were expected to check in too see if you were needed. I was ok with that for a while but it soon became a job.

Then it got to the point where they knew my alts and if I was on with an alt I would get a tell to change toons and come heal.

I quit playing that game the day the GM called me at home and told me to get on the game to heal in a raid.

For a while we would /gkick at the first sign of trouble. We're getting back to that now. 3 kicks in 3 days. You would be amazed what it does for morale, lol.

I'm happy with the four of us. I just wish there was a fifth. Then we'd have 5-mans covered. We'll never go raiding anyway, none of us have the time!

Never say never :p
I said I would never go raiding too and not only because of the time.

But it doesnt have to take more time than questing or some ordinary instance.
Lets say you 3 or 4 (we were just 3 for very long) want to do some normal instance. You lack healer, or tank. You sit in Shat or at some other place checking your friend list, posting in LFG, checking random people at /who.... sometimes for how long? Hour, 2 hours?
Then you go in instance and you maybe wipe 2-3 times on some harder boss, then someone afks or has to go and you wait again to find replacement, and so on and so on.
Some instance can take up to 3-4 hours to do if you count all that waiting time easily.

I know its different with *hardcores* but take example of our first 2 raids.
We just wanted to try Attumen, we logged and got ready in some 15 minutes and killed him in hour and half I think..... though with lot of chatting and joking going around.
Then someone had dinner so we went on 9 manning trash.
Someone else had to log so we got another person from waiting list and decided to try Morroes, wiped once, did him second time, went on with trash.

And it wasnt some strict military type group - we tried to wander around see if we can explore the place bit more, we /danced in the ballroom, healers were exchanging experiences on healbot setup, somebody was interested in DBM so we waited for him to download it...... basically lot of fooling around, chatting, joking and laughing.

Next time was even "worse", wasnt some scheduled raid but "hey peeps there are 8 of us on, how do you feel about peeping in Kara again". Got some PuGs, killed Maiden, rotated PuGs that had to go, got all excited over Big Bad Wolf so we killed him too, tried Curator twice and of course wiped and then our main healer had to go to work.
Not much more time consuming than some ordinary instance but indeed huge fun.

I know people do not raid like that generally, but we are focused on everyone having fun much more than on "progression".
