Until a few days ago I was a high-ranking officer and our only Warlock (well, we had some crazy guy in full Arcanoweave and Soulcloth, he barely counts) at level 70. Most of the casual-raiders in our guild moved to Censura, another casual raid-guild, including the GM's main character. I feel honored that he trusted me to transfer GM to his alt xD

Ok I am GM, not officially anymore, one of the 3 guild masters, but the last word about things is usually mine.... eh like anyone knowing me would doubt that >.<

I'm an officer in my guild, and our guild leader or whatever is a lock too =]

We just had a couple people try to mutiny in my guild. I'm waiting to see how it turns out, but I think the entire guild just turned against them. Anyway, you guys have any good suggestions for keeping the peace?

I had sort of such thing when we tried merging and I am happy they all left in a bunch. Few that remained are really nice people and I am glad to have them.

In such situations I talk privately with everyone making mess and tell them basically to cool off, if they have complains I listen though and try to see if they have valid point.
If its only drama making to get benefits its /gkick. I might be bit too fast on that one but so far I never regretted it yet.

They just can't stand one of our raiders. She's too annoying to them, but she gets along well with everyone else in the guild, so... yeah.

"Cant stand" and "too annoying" tells nothing.
Do they have any particular complaints about her? How many of them *cant stand* said person? Did she really do something to annoy them?
Getting along with everyone else says nothing too. She might be all sweet over some people and nasty to others for some reason.

I would say talk with all, separately and in private. With her too. Is she aware that some people find her annoying and can she offer you any explanation for it?

If they all have guild benefits in mind above all you should be able to find a solution. If they find their petty little dramas more important.... well you know what then.
Just listen to both sides first and try to be fair no matter if you like someone or not.

We had something happen like that a few days ago with a few people from a guild that merged with ours. We tried to whisper to them insted of just saying everything over vent and guild chat but that didn't solve the problem. Words were said and drama was adding up and they ended up leaving. Well... almost all of them. There was this one lock that I was having problems with. Our last conversation went something like while were were in slabs:
helpfulme: hey bro, you mind throwin a few dots on the boss, it might help.
1337juicelok: im dest so I dont need to cast dots noob.
helpful me: well actually I think you should just to try and see.
1337juicelok: no point cuz i have(fill in the blank) crit% which is higher than yours and im in greez noob!!
helpful me: /sigh /gkick

some peoples kids these days...

I would have kicked him at first *noob*. I dont tolerate people that use that kind of talk with anyone least a guildie.

I kicked a guy because someone complained about him spilling profanities in some general chat. I care about our guild reputation so I whispered him and told him to cut that off and try to behave. He said something like "I will do what I want" and I said "oh no you wont in my guild" /gkick.

Ok he apologized later and said he had a drink too much, promised to behave in the future and so on, so I got him back. He did complain to official GM that I "want to be in control" or something... but really someone has to be no?

Since I have full support of my coo-GMs and very good understanding with all other people in guild, I dont care if I present myself as some kind of *dragon lady* to occasional drama maker that doesnt fit among us anyway.

Spelling owns me today >.<

Yeah, I was trying to just be nice because most lock in my guild hate when they ask for advice and I give them the truth vs. what they want to hear. But I really don't feel sorry for all the leet dest locks in greens out there that are like shadowbolt rulz all!!!

I run my own guild, and I'm a classleader Warlocks, Shamans, Hunters, and Mages, since I have epic'd out characters from each of those classes and I'm basically raiding everyday.

Being a GM, I make it my responsibility to KNOW those in the guild. I make it a point to run with new members with which ever alt I have close to thier lvl. Believe me, after 3 or 4 runs, you can somewhat understand a persons character if thats your goal, and it is mine. If a new potential member is coming fron a different guild, I ask him about it, and I'll contact the other GM. Its just good management. I owe that much to the other members who have put effort into the guild, to thier personal character, and to the better of the guild.

Me and my Brother run a guild. He's GM but I can change whatever I feel needs to be. He's a shadow priest and I'm of course the warlock. Works well I think.

I'm in a tiny guild with 3 people from work. One is GM, the rest of us are Officers. So...yeah, four of us.

However, we tried recruiting, signed up a load of low levels (as we were at the time (bar my 70 lock) and we're generally the only ones who log in. So it was a waste of time.

There are maybe three others who log in once a week.

Le sigh.

I feel for you Inoperante. We were in the same situation long time, with exception of recruiting low levels... its never good idea to simply fill the guild with whatever comes along.

Then we managed to expand a bit and did mistake of merging with another small guild. After we split we were back where we were only with much less enthusiasm and bitter and tired of drama.

At one point we were even considering leaving for some other guild and getting the burden of recruiting, managing, making everyone happy off our backs. But then I couldnt really find a guild that would suit me so much.
So we went on pugging mostly.

Lately we found some really nice people that joined us and they had friends, friends had their friends, we put up recruitment thread on realm forum..... suddenly we have enough people to start practice raiding and never miss a person for instance run if we want.
I guess its just patience and persistence that can get you somewhere with guilds in WoW. And do not lower your expectations :)

Ok, here is a question. Bit off topic except the fact that so many guild GM's or officers here. What would you do as a GM of officer to someone who dropped out in the middle of a guild run with no explination(just wanna see the reactions are before posting what happened).

there are a million reasons why someone would drop out during a raid, as much as it is annoying you have to handle it.
Best thing would be if you´d take that player aside and talk to him in private about it.
An even better thing would be if you´d put his class-officer in charge of that job
and that class-officer will than just report to you if it was okay or not. After thatthe two of you can handle/decide on what action should be taken.

I have actually given my phone number out to the entire raiding program in my guild. We dock CLS (our point system) for no-shows, lateness and early leaving. There are NO exceptions because the system expounds exponentially. The first violation is only 2 points (that is less than 1/2 of a farm content raid), the 2nd is 4 points, the 8 and all the way up to 64. Every month you don't violate you drop down a tier (so 3 volations in a month gets you -14 (2+4+8), and if you do it again 30 days after the last violation, it's another 8 because you had dropped back down to the 4 tier). It works really well, few people ever make it past the 4 tier, and that's the point. If they are rare emergencies the penalty is something that can be made up easily and if it's frequent it's going to be a huge sum of points.

wow that sounds like a great system, you could even use tactical drop-out-of-raids every now and than.
if you get ranked up as well^^

Take your point, Sethy, but we were going for the sign up loads, sort the wheat from the chaff. Doesn't work. The chaff annoy the wheat way before you recognise which is which.

I'm happy with the four of us. I just wish there was a fifth. Then we'd have 5-mans covered. We'll never go raiding anyway, none of us have the time!

Good mix though. 1 'lock (me + my new warrior if required), 1 prot pally, 1 rogue, 1 priest. Just need a healer (or for the priest to respec - then a mage) and we're good to go!

I'm an officer in my guild.

Here's my take on the situation. We are a large (almost 300 member) casual/leveling guild. We are affiliated with a raiding guild that was formed from our alumni - upon recommendation from our Kara leader, players move into that guild or another one if that's their choice. If a few people leave, it's not a big deal. In the meantime, we hang out and do whatever is our pleasure with no pressure whatsoever.

We've had a few incidents of drama, but we've gotten over them with very few repercussions. I think that the biggest was when our hard-core raiders broke off to create the raiding guild. We had some of our members make predictions that the guild was on its way to ruination. It turned out to be a tempest in a teapot.
