Hello, Im leveling a level 56 protection warrior at the moment and im having
a problem surviving when i pull more then 3 mobs of my level. With 3 i have to use a lot of my ohh sh*t button's. Now i was suprised yesterday. There was a palladin who pulled more then 3 mobs. I were 5 undead's and he used a aoe spell and start doing his thing. I asked the guy about his spec and he was holy with some protection. Now i don't get it but he survived. Had no mana left and only a quart of his hp but he survived... I mean if i do such a pull im guarenteed dead! And im protecion specced with shield block and full parry talent. How come i can't survive that? I dont change stances wich such a pull ill stay in defense and keep shield block up most of the time.
But my question is how can a protection specced warrior, ment for staying alive, dont survive such a pull and a palladin can survive. It pisses me off!

Easy a warrior dps or protect is just the class that do no damage ( and fast down mob = survive) . And the armor we got is helping only against melee classe mobs . So solo we sucks .But pair up with a healing class and a warrior rocks :).

Don`t let you fool with the Big Ap, HP, crit ,hit numbers on this board , Its a long way to get there.

Ok i understand, but a is this the same when you role a palladin to be protection?
I know we are better tanks then palladin's in most cases. As for survivability, should i give up some protection talents and go for damage?
I want to be able to solo strat or scholo as a 70. Any advice on this is greatly apreciated!
Thanks

try a hybrid build till you hit 70 . i got 70 on solo with 2 mace`s and not realy got problems :). Now i use still a hybrid . shieldslam / stun build and i like it .
and solo strat on 70 as a warrior forget it . you need a lot of cleansing poisons :).

you need to learn more about the paladin class before you make unfair comparisons. pallies have more aoe damage and reflective damage abilities than protection warriors do, and they can also bubble and heal themselves to outlast their opponents. warrior tanks are better than pally tanks because of relatively poorer tankadin itemization (which i've heard is getting better) and our ability to put more debuffs on the mob.

You should really learn more about the paladin before you say things like that. They're not warriors. They are much different and therefore they can survive multi-mob pulls. During trash mobs in Hyjal, we have our Paly tank AOE the mobs and our healers heal through it and everyone else just does their thing.

You won't solo Strat or Scholo as a 70 warrior..thats just the name of the game.

If you are taking on more than 1 mob at a time, make sure you always have TClap and Demo Shout up, and being prot (im hoping you are using a shield while questing and grinding as prot at your level) I would alternate between shield block and Cleave.

Even though my Warrior can handle two and three mobs at once, I find it more efficient time-wise to pull them singly if possible as I can kill 5 or more of my level in a row before having to eat whereas a multi-pull usually means I have to eat right afterwards. Since I have very little AOE damage, I pretty much have to kill each mob singly even if there are 3 mobs hitting on me. Cleave and TC do help some but the little damage they do doesn't offset the fact that I'm taking a lot more damage from 3 mobs hitting on me while I'm just getting the first one down.

Warriors survive quite well as long as you understand their strengths and weaknesses and avoid the situations where you know you are likely to get killed if you are alone.

On the plus side, learning how to pull as few mobs as possible at a time is a great skill to have for tanking. Knowing how to pull casters and other ranged mobs far enough away from neighboring groups is vital for a tank. You seldom get to use charge in a higher level instance.
