So I respecced to resto at......Follow

lvl 28! I have been to these forums a lot just reading through what everyone thinks and getting good info about the game. I dont have a lvl 70 anything, my highest char is 56 hunter, yet when I read about going feral till 60 and respeccing than... I understand the reasoning to make it faster, but maybe there is more to it than that...

I realized when I respecced I enjoy healing tremendously, and to think of wasting all that time doing something less enjoyable just to get to the better stuff faster is missing out on a lot, remember that old saying getting there is half the fun?

Man, western civilization is all about the now..... I dont want a burger in 25 min, I dont want to wait for the grill to heat up and slice fresh tomatoes, talk to the neighbors and sit and laugh together, I wanna go to Mickie Dees alone and get my crap burger NOW! Why? Because I dont have to wait!

Well practice some delayed gratification my friends, it makes the finish line that much sweeter of a sight......

I had to wait till 52 to get my mount with my hunter because I didnt have the money..... but man when I got that stinkin cat and rode through darnassus like a king it gave me the giggles....

Anyways thats my two cents, see you in an unusually long time at lvl 70 with a big smile on my face =-)

Gratz to you man! I like your way of thinking.

As long as youre having fun who cares right? :)

Good luck with your leveling. I, too, was resto throughout level 42 - 54 of my shammys life and I loved it so so much! ^_^

Have fun right? Thats what the game is about. Happy Trails.

Good for you. There's definitely no reason not to spec the way you want. You can solo any class and any spec to 70. People level holy pallies. Is it the fastest and most efficient way to level? Who cares as long as it's the most fun? I just said this in another thread, but the character you level fastest is going to be the one you want to play.

I lvled my druid as resto from 34 to 60. Then, when TBC came out,I specced feral to lvl to 70 faster (mangle ftw). The moment I dinged 70 I went back to resto.

Feral lvling might be faster, but it felt much slower to me, because I wasn't doing what I really wanted to. So, if you love healing, go resto and have fun.

I leveled up mostly as balance or resto and was in a small guild of low level toons that just ran instances together or finished quests together all the time. That was after the game had only been out a few months. I finally just started playing a few alt characters and it's just not the same.

Don't do anything just because other people say it was the best way for them. Find out what the best way is for you.

Yup, I pretty much leveled my druid resto, from 10-64, then went feral (mainly cuz I could never find tanks, and wanted the resto gears from instances!)

Some said it was a slow way to level, but I did not find it slow as I enjoyed doing it! (thats what we pay our 15$ for isnt it? enjoyment?)

I think of my warrior, who has been respecced 8 or 10 times, and still sits at lvl 41, and will prolly sit there till the end of time, as i just simply dont enjoy playing him.

Anyway, good luck, and Happy Adventures!

heres the thing... there is definetely a faster way of leveling for all classes than their respective healing specs.. i leveled my priest from 1-60 as shadow and healed in every instance without problems. i hit 60 and was doing MC, BWL, ZG, AQ20, and part of AQ40 as holy/disc, TBC came out and i went back to shadow and healed every instance as shadow while i leveled..

i leveled my paly prot, at level 35 you have 5 points in vengeance, so you have ret aura, blessing of sanctuary, judge light on whatever mob you attack and keep up seal of light, gather 8 mobs... if you have an oh **** moment bubble and heal otherwise the seal of light and judge of light keeps you up and the mobs kill themselves in no time... my point? im speced to tank but i heal in almost every instance from the time i was 16-57.... because no one else would

druid, leveled feral from 10 to 70, healed quite often and did quite fine doing it.

my main point is... you can level with whatever dps spec you want and heal just fine all you gotta do is get some practice and keep your gear up to date... and in many aspects this will make you a better healer in the end game because you're so used to not having all of your healing spells buffed up and whatnot.

I agree totally. With my other 70's I powerleveled to 70 withough doing any instances. With my priest however, once I hit Outlands, I am only questing while waiting for a group for Ramparts or BF. I am almost 64 and still am only halfway through the Hellfire Peninsula quests (using only rested XP).

I have DPS'd and healed both those instances easily while shadows specced. Even just after I arrived in Outlands and still had my crappy green quest rewards to wear. The only time I had trouble was trying to heal a level 70 shaman who was tanking for me on one run. My massive 1k heals didn't do much for his 10k health bar! Used a lot of mana there :) We still only wiped once though, and that was from pulling too many adds.

So even if you want to heal, feel free to spec whichever way you think you will enjoy most or will get you to 70 quicker. I would recommend speed leveling as feral to Outlands then making your choice about spec then as pre-outlands time is boring and slow. Outlands quests are more interesting & varied, your gear improves rapidly (keeps you keen!) and there are a lot more people around wanting to do group quests and instances (still not enough at times though).

Having leveled 4 toons to Outlands now, I can not emphasise enough the game really is 3 parts now. 1-60, 60-70 & endgame. Of the 3, 1-60 takes the longest and is the least interesting (it is important though as you learn the basics of your class here). The other two, while being really different, are both much more enjoyable and interesting.

Tangent, but everyone always says this and I just don't agree. I was waiting and waiting to get to the Outland because everyone was telling me how the questing was going to be instantly! magically! exponentially! better! I think it's... pretty much the same. The rewards and the money are nicer, but the actual action hasn't changed all that much. (Except for the part where I shout and cackle over the top of my PC every ten minutes, reporting how many mobs I just killed at once or in a row, since hubby tried to tell me Outland was tough and I'd get my butt kicked there. Pfft. As if druids die.) Maybe it's different for the second half, I'm only level 65.

As for Pre-Outland being "boring and slow," I was level 53 or 55 or something when 2.3 hit and I can tell you, with the new system, nothing is slower than the 60's. Now I only play my main with rested xp, and even then I play alts for a day or two after I level cause I just hate that blank bar and how doing five quests is only going to fill in 1/8 of it.

When it comes to boring, I think there are good/bad areas and quests at every level. I certainly didn't find killing 60 beasts for Nesingwary Sr. any more interesting than killing 30 for his kid. Okay, EPL and Un'Goro are in the old world, which automatically raises its suck factor, I'll give you that. But all my favorite zones - Duskwood, WPL, Feralas, the Undead starting areas, Felwood - are still over there too.

Wow, speaking of boring. Long post alert. Am I passionate on this subject or just procrastinating? You decide.

you'd be really sad pre bc or just after bc came out when it took roughly 60% more exp to level from 10-60 than it does now. currently I take roughly 8 quests to level one time not including the mob kills when it used to take 10 quests + grinding mobs to level the same amount.

yea I know this post is a few weeks old but I'm new to the forums and just poking about.
Myself I have been resto spec'd since I started to train talents.
I'm 62 now and do enjoy healing. It's pretty satisfying knowing you kept a group of peeps alive no more satisfying than watching the tank keep aggro and keep them from beating on my fragile body :P
It's been a tough grind to get where I am but I'm still glad I stuck it out so far even if I am a bit squishy.
For a minute I was going to respec more of a hybrid resto so I can hang a little better in pvp but after doing some more reading I just need to adjust my style a little and I think I will do ok. Which seems to be working out well so far.

I personally find the road to 70 the fun part of the game. If only there was a way to skip the first 20 levels, though. I've played every class/race combination available past level 20 and the only thing keeping me from making a new character is the thought of going autopilot for 20 levels.
