Demonology options?Follow

#1 Jan 05 2008 at 6:28 PM Rating: Decent
Im currently lvling demonology, at 66 now. I really enjoy it and just wondering what my options endgame are. I understand that the other 2 specs are considered better for raiding/heroics. I was wondering if something like using the imp instead of the felguard would help or hurt my build. My thought was that with the threat reduction I would be able to pump out constant damage. I intend to get all the arena 1 gear once I hit 70, so this would help the demo spec more than the others. Any thoughts?

I also Lvl to 70 as a Demonlock and considered input about changing specs. What I found was when I changed, it was almost like changing to a completely different class. I tried a pure Afflic build, the SL/SL build etc..and guess what? Im back to my Demon build! I gave it about a month at the other builds, and never seemed to do the damage I was hoping for, not that I didn't melt a few souls. Anyway, it still comes down to your ability to play your spec, and I just happpened to learn how to use my Demonlock in all situations and be VERY effective. And yes, I do it all, raids, PvP, 5man, the works. Mostly with my Guild, but I get lots of RE-invites for pugs.

I'd say Demonology would have some advantages over others in raiding. Destruction and Affliction can get more spell damage, but Demonology gets endurance as a trade-off.
20% reduction in all damage; stamina/health bonus; higher resistances to spells; 2% regeneration to mana or health (without minion); and even reduced threat.
Any one of the trees seems great. I think it comes down to how you want to deal damage: quick and painless, or steady and painful?

its completely useless in area and t4 raids.

Wow...that had alot of insight...really you should try explaining yourself instead of blindly bashing. Demonolgy is viable 70+ Currently I'm affliction, I like it a little better in bg's and that's what I plan on doing for some time.

At a quick glance:

For soloing in a pve environemnt it's going to give you the most survivability. Soullink and your felguard will be great for daily quests and farming.

As far as arena go this spec may be crucial for you. Be able to survive that much longer and the bonus you'll get in spell dmg can mean alot. Not to mention if you want it you can get an additional 5% spell crit rate.

In regular 5-mans and raids alot of ppl will always tell you to dump demo. At the very least try it out.
~Soul link gives you a 5% dmg bonus
~depending on your stats youa +150-200 spell bonus from demonic knowledge
~5% spell crit from demonic tatics
~Master Demonologist - bonus dmg/resistance/threat reduction- depending on pet
It will still be viable in raids but you will have to learn to adjust to the encounters and change pets to bet suit you and the raid.

Either way go with what ever bets fits you.

In regular 5 mans there is no better pet than felguard if you have half decent gear.
My pet alone could take down elite trash in instances like Slabs while I would just dot them and heal him a bit while nuking other targets.

I had survivability of a small tank with him. If we would run with undergeared/unexperienced tank/healer and wiped I would usually be the last one standing and few times practically soloed the pull.
And I did damn good dps.

I got bored with demo, but properly managed demo lock is one of the nastiest things you can see in 5 mans.
Anyone claiming different either has never played demo or failed at it miserably.

Oakenwrath doesnt have Scholar title (I do hope you dont find yourself something better because you do, that would be pathetic) because he has bad attitude and his manners lack some polish from time to time.

But then, I have been living in Germany for 6 years now and I am not surprised :p

Yeah, us pyrocidal maniacs never get rated up. I sometimes wonder who the hell it is who rates these... creatures up to Scholars anyway.

Duh, he's Oakenwrath.

if you have no better thing to do than stalk me and flame on every post i join good day to you...

Maybe if you tried posting coherently and came out with stuff that isn't (generally) a pile of crap he wouldn't be flaming you. Yes, Engrish may not be your first language (god save you if it is), but that doesn't stop you from using a few capital letters. My Guild Master is Estonian and spells perfectly fine (indeed, his grammar is great as well) apart from a few odd turns of phrase.

I didnt ask nor want scholor and as for you having over 500 posts and not getting it get a like k thnx

You're the first one to bring up Oakenwrath as a non-scholar. His point was that you can quite easily be a complete and utter idiot with high-ranked friends and theoretically become just below Admins. Also, I find it unlikely that you're worthy of a rank you can't even frikkin' SPELL when it's written under your name in all your posts.

Amen.

I'm speccing back.

Way to squishy as Aff. I MIGHT put more points into Destro this time, instead of Aff though. See what happens.

BTW...can I have FG AND Seed of Corruption? (lazy, yes...)

Win. I'd give you my Epic Thread, but I already put it on my trousers and can't afford another Nether.
