Completely Uncrushable?Follow

I had always thought that once having 102.4 avoidance, and 490 defense, there was no way to get crush'd. (Assuming you can keep up holy shield (or the warrior shield talent) during the whole boss fight, which isn't hard against most bosses)

Today my guild ran ZA. We cleared the first four bosses, and got to Hex Lord, and our druid tank had to leave. A warrior came in, with pretty nice stats, and about the same level of gear as me and we eventually had to call the raid, because the main tank wasn't being kept alive during the add's. The final try I looked at my grim reaper, and he had been crushing blowed twice in a row, for ~6k. I sent a tell to the raid leader, and he told me that "even if you are "uncrushable" aka 102.4 avoidance...there is still a 1% chance to get crushed""just like there is a chance to miss, when hit capped as rogue"

Is this true? That when over 102.4% avoidance during a fight, you still have a 1% chance to get crushed?...and did the warrior really get the 1 in 10,000 chance of getting two crushing blows in a row?

P.S. Please forgive any mistakes....few minutes from 5 A.M. here.

EDIT: found one :P

No. If you get crushed you messed up somehow, either by letting the mob hit you from behind or phailing to keep up shield block / holy shield. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

EDIT: Fixed weird typo errors.

You would have been slow putting up Holy Shield. Holy Shield needs to be up all the time for paladins to get uncrushable.

Otherwise, it's important to remember that you cannot block, dodge or parry when being attacked from behind, IIRC.

Both warriors and paladins can be still crushed if Holy Shield/Shield Block isn't up 100% of the time. For warriors this can be more of a challenge because Shield Block is only good for 2 blocks over 5 seconds versus the Holy Shield 8 blocks over 10 seconds. So a warrior could easily find himself crushable for a few seconds on fast hitting mobs...

He was either slow or the mob just punched through his Shield Block (three hits in five seconds can and does happen). There is no magical 1% chance to eat a Crushing.

The one exception I can think of only happened with a Paladin, but... the game handles race conditions poorly, so if you put up Holy Shield you may still take a crushing occasionally if the mob swings at exactly the right moment.

BTW, thank you guys for noticing that I said the main tank was a warrior. Seems like the first two posts were saying I was the main tank, that was getting crushed, and well..I clearly stated I wasn't :P..

Can I be safe in saying if you are over 102.4 avoidance, you cannot be crushed. I have seen this warrior get crushed before, and was given the same reason ("there still is a 1% chance of being crushed...102.4 avoidance just brings you to the maximum amount, but there still is room to be crushed") Maybe check out my thread about Gruul's lair I posted a few weeks back...yep, talking about the same warrior.

I have come to the conclusion that he is just not keeping his shield block talent up, or it is getting used all up, before he can get it up again.

I just want to prove my raid leader wrong, and show that the warrior's shield block is not staying up.

EDIT:

..That proves it right there :P, sorry missed it, but thanks RPZip :D

Is Malacrass (sp?) that fast of hitting?...I saw him get crushed twice in a row, and asked his healer today when I got on, and he said he was getting crushed once in a while from the start.

True but in talking about a warrior, the warrior boards would probably have been a better spot as the mechanism is different.

No, you can't be safe in saying that. It's true that there is no magical 1%; however with warriors, if the mob hits fast then it is, as RP said, possible to punch through the block.

If you read the original post, I wasn't asking about warrior mechanics...and I already knew that shield block could be used up, before being reapplied...my question was

..which is the same for warriors and paladins, in the sense that i'm assuming shield block or holy shield is up.

As I said, "with over 102.4 avoidance"...if the shield block was "punched through" ..then avoidance would no longer be 102.4% :P
