My guild has been doing some recruiting and is finally starting to poke our heads into SSC. In line with that we are starting a "farming program" I guess to help get our tanks geared up for the Hydross fight, while currently we are learning the Lurker fight.

I have looked at the gear lists provided on wowwiki for this fight. I will be one of the 2 off-tanks who will be needing a mix of both resistances. With this in mind, I have come up with what I think should be a good mix of the gear listed there. My hope is that someone with more experience in SSC and this fight can help me critique this gear and see if there is anywhere that I can improve.

Here's what I came up with for Frost Resist:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=31369 with a Frost Armor Kit (+8)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=31370 with an Ice Guard (+10)
A Frost Armor Kit on my hands (+8) and an Inscription of Endurance (+7) on my shoulders.

This will give me 153 Frost Resistance unbuffed.

And for Nature Resistance:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=31368 with a Glyph of Nature Warding (+20)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=24095
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?source=live;witem=31399
The Inscription of Endurance (+7) and a Nature Armor Kit (+8) on my feet.

This will give me 150 Nature Resistance unbuffed.

Thanks to anyone for taking the time to look this over :)

Well, I'll take this to mean either it's a good list and I should get started ... or it's too horrible to comment on. I'll go with the first one ;)

Any reason you didn't include the frost neck or frost ring? Both are made by jewelcrafters. Its ummm Pendant of Thawing and The Frozen Eye. You're going to end up wearing some greens, but one of the nicest changes about BC was the fact that the resist greens went from nothing but resist on it to resist and stam. Go ahead and get at least I'd say 200 unbuffed and I think you should be ok. The adds aren't particularly tough, especially if you have 2 warlocks banishing. You're not going to be a TPS champ, but it'll get hydross done. I've never tanked it, but I've healed it more times than I can count.

I was trying to replace as little of my normal gear as I could while hitting 150 resist of each, but I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Should I replace as much as I can of my normal gear with resist gear?

EDIT: and I put in the nature neck, so can't have the frost one. Kinda forgot about having 2 rings though hehe >.>

Oh my bad, you're doing a mix so you're going to be wearing both sets at the same time. I would go with both rings, and use the frost neck instead of the nature. In the nature phase you will have the assistance of mage's frost nova so they die quicker, which reduces the time you need to tank, which reduces the need for as much NR. You can't frost nova in the water phase, so I'd think you would need the extra bit of FR. I guess your stuff looks fine then.

Alright thanks a ton :) I'll make the necessary change and start farming up the mats for my gear.
