I was wondering if i should go SV. I am BM right now and i like it. i do mostly PvP and my guild is starting Kara soon. i also do dungeons whn i feel like it and solo very little ( unless a good reward comes out of it). I only ask cause i have never been SV and im curios....my gear is ok and includes Valanoses Longbow(butchered(also here lol) the spelling. i appriceate the input. (BTW this is my 2nd post sbe nice!)

Would help if we saw your armory (then again, armory hasn't worked in a while).

SV is a very gear dependent spec. I'd say stay BM unless your gear is very good and you have over 600 agi before respec.

600 pre respec is a little high for starting Kara IMO. Obviously if you can hit that, more power to ya. But when I came over from BM, I think my AGI was something rubbish like 454 before respec. If you eat Warp Burgers and use Elixir of Major Agility, you should be putting out a better buff than TSA at that level.

If you know your stamina is high, you know what to swap out for Agi then :) SV doesnt need anywhere near as much stamina as BM. (well, in Kara anyway, you might find yourself a little squishier in PvP, but you'll also find more ways of getting out of melee range)

You'd need to be looking at 700+Agi unbuffed (post-respec) once you get as far as Curator though. Steelray is correct in that it's a very gear dependant spec. A lot more so than BM.

That being said I'm having more fun as an SV Hunter than I ever did as BM.

Also consider there are 2 SV specs (well, some slight variations, but 2 general specs). Mass Crit Spec. This spec provides moderate CC (you miss out on wyvern sting, scatter shot, and resourcefulness but pick up IAotH). This is really gear dependent.
The other spec, Uber CC Spec is great for crowd control, especially with resourcefulness (and the two talents in wyvern sting and scatter shot would be great for PvP). While it is still gear dependent as far as damage goes, you gain a lot of utility to bring to a group, so if you wanted to try SV spec out while regearing, you may want to try this (especially if you PvP). You will probably see a drop in DPS, and you can trap good enough in BM, but this makes it a lot easier.

I'm not too good at PvP specs, but I know when I PvPed I was actually marksman, using this spec, just remember survival talents that wont help much in PvP are slay monsters, clever traps (10 sec limit in PvP anyway), Improved Feign Death and Trap Mastery (dont think I've seen one resisted at same-level).

I guess I went into builds when that wasn't the question, really, but the goal was to say that SV is about more than being a critopheliac, it's also about superior crowd control. The later aspect is NOT gear dependent.

Oh, and 700 agility with talents is 609 agility without, so 600 without talents is a good benchmark to hit.
