HKM death
i spec'd 17/44 but ended up tanking the priest with dps gear+sword/board as i was much, much more survivable than any of the rogues. i was also very, very careful not to get caught in HKM's WW. hopefully with a bit more aggressiveness in the future i can see higher numbers.

gruul death
i was also very careful here to run out well before ground slams (~8 seconds), and to find a spot where i didn't kill anyone on shatter. i was able to stay in melee range during cave-ins. i did more total damage than two of the rogues but i believe the one in the lead is better geared than i am.

to those knowledgeable about these fights and familiar with typical damage output numbers: please critique my damage output. average WW damage in particular looks a bit low, though i am mainhanding dragonmaw with executioner and offhanding the s1 mace with mongoose. also, i have >8% hit with gear and >9% hit with precision, but i saw ~24% miss with my normal attacks on gruul... shouldn't it be ~15%?

that's some low dps :O

Uhm, about the hit -- you have to realize that with the attack table, it's not guaranteed 9% hit. That is to say, it's a roll. Each one has nothing to do with the previous result. Theoretically, even if you have 99% hit with white attacks, you can still miss every single time, it's just unlikely.

About the groundslams, it doesn't matter if you run out or not, you're still going to get slammed and it is somewhat random. Just stay in for the duration and while you're in the air, look around you to find a place where you won't be near people and go there.

ok, i will keep that in mind for the next gruul's, and whale at his foot until he swats me away.

i had a feeling that it was low dps. but then, is it because of limited dps time/situational factors (tanking priest, running out at WW and ground slams) or is my output just low to begin with? i see that the average damage numbers for BT and WW are more or less the same with trash mobs/HKM/gruul, but i only have 450ish dps on the bosses and 650ish on trash.

i didn't really check the hkm fight as you said you were tanking for quite a part of it. What are you stats like (ap/hit/crit/armor penetration?) after raid buffs since the armory is down ~99% of the time?

just remember to trinket early in the fight so you can use it more than once. use a haste pot, or a heroic potion as needed as well to maximize your dps if it's something you don't have on farm and you need to squeeze out the most dps possible. Try to get 'the right' group makeup and see if anyone can use the LW'ing drums [and bloodlust] preferrably in conjunction with your execute spams.

you'll have to bear with me as my recollection is fuzzy at best, and i had not spec'd 17/44 for months...

~2700 AP/~9% hit/~33% crit (without mongoose proc)/1000 total ArP from executioner and badge bracers, buffed with rampage/bshout/LoTP/sometimes BoK or BoM (we swapped out a pally at some point)/roasted clefthoof/unstable flask of the beast. those are all the damage buffs i can think of. we did not have a shaman for shammy buffs. iirc the hunters were not using trueshot aura, and none were in my group anyway.

imo you should be concentrating a lot more on your AP over your crit% as it seems rather quite low...

it could be higher but 2700 is the number that sticks in my mind. i should write my fully buffed raid numbers down in the future. as for concentrating more on AP, unfortunately i would have to dip close to or below 25% crit if i re-gemmed for that. my helm and shoulders could stand serious upgrades though (overseer's helm of second sight, ragesteel shoulders).

DPS is calculated when ur actually dealing dmg, not when ur running out and not attacking. But yes....that is some low dmg and DPS. You know what though, that just gives you something to aim for in the longer scheme of things. You now have something to compare stats with and it should now help you get better.

On your tool tip you want around 9% hit or more. Make sure you have a decent amount of AP and Crit, but also weapons play a big part too. You can get Arena ones that will help you out, or craftables to do the same. I haven't seen ur armory but I'm just trying to cover the basics. Good luck to ya.

Yeah, those DPS numbers look horribly low but Gruul and HKM (when you tank plus Whirlwind) are poor places to get a good number reading.
