Spec & Gear help for PvPFollow

Little background:
I'm a pretty new 70, and I've just recently started a 2v2 with a rogue, and we are getting absolutely spanked. I think the majority of the problem is lack of skill (mostly on my part). I'm attempting to become a reformed clicker, and having a hard time. Also, I tailored the spellfire set, so I really want to try to stick to fire or arcane for a little while at least, before going over to the obviously better pvp frost (cause then I have to switch tailoring specs, and grind even more motes...)
So my two questions:
1. Here's my profile - any helpful suggestions?: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Frostmane&n=Biryon
2. What do you think of this spec? http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=obLE00bZEgGzf0cRxRz?

Well, for whatever reason, the web sites (both of them) aren't loading for me. But just from your question, I'd say you probably have no resillience gear as well. You and the rogue should PvP in BGs and get points enough to buy the S1 Arena gear and then try some more arena. Frost is way overrepresented in arena for a good reason. Also, mages really shine in 5v5, from what I've seen in my *very* limited arena combat.

I'll let some more experienced PvP mages agree/disagree/discuss what might be best...

Thanks Ktangent! Sorry about the links - I've been having problems with the Armory lately - my character is named Biryon on the Frostmane server, if that helps.
I do surely need more resiliance on my gear. I've been kind of hesitant to socket my spellfire set with Resiliance gems because that wouldn't be very useful for raiding, and I think the spellfire is probably more geared for that.
I do intend to spend more time in the BGs to upgrade all of my gear, but I was hoping the spellfire set was good enough to get by. Maybe I need to put it in storage for future raids, and get the rest of the Gladiator set.
It really hurts my soul how poorly the Aliance does on my Battlegroup (reckoning). We really have a hard time cooperating.
I've been thinking of just saying I want to start a premade and seeing how that goes - anyone have any ideas on do's/don't's regarding starting a pre-made?
Thanks!

I would definitely only use the spellfire set for PvE, it doesn't have any stamina on it which is one of the most important parts. I would try to get some BG/arena gear in order to start out.

Thanks Anobix - I upgraded my hands to Season 1 arena, and just the added stamina, and +25 resil, plus the +35 resil set bonus.... I've been able to see the difference.
Anyone have any thoughts on the tallent spec I posted above? Thanks!

The place where mages really shine is, in fact, not 5v5, but 3v3 where they run with a rogue and a priest (or druid - seems to work good as well). The only bracket where a mage can be fire is in 5s, but it isn't recommended, as you'll get slapped within secs, resilience or not.

That being said, does as mentioned above, farm for s1 and all the other honor gear, specc 17/0/44 (I know you didn't wanted to hear this, but I have to say it :P), realise that mages are mostly brought for control and that shatter combos are only brought into play when the rogue has prepared an opponent for you to blast. Then you can go PEW PEW.

And btw - keep you spellfire for when you want to do PvE-content, since raiding as frost = CRAP (or at least, raiding as fire is ten times better). The single most important stat for PvP is resilience, and all the crafted stuff has 0 of it, so it sucks for PvP! At least on my server (talnivarr, EU) above 1500 rating, it's resilience>300 or bust!

EDIT: the talent link finally loaded (dunno why, but I couldn't open it before), and I've gotta say, that while this might work in the low ratings, anyone with some resillience and a healer will do /lol at you - fire is a dead PvP specc since fire was introduced. You gotta remember, that when you run with a rogue, you are the only visiable target, so you'll be the one getting attacked. When people notice you are fire, they'll keep pounding on you - and a warrior won't need to pound you for a long time before you go down.

Like Ktangent said, frost is definately the most common PVP spec and for good reason, it's great CC, survivability, and dps. I'm not going to slam you if you want to stay fire though as I did the same for a while when I started PVPing. Though if you do stay fire I would reccomend using Filterspawn's burst fire build.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?2500500312202122300120050520201200323003000000000000000000000000000

This build will let you throw out tons of damage quickly as well as give you the famed AP-POM-Pyro.
Hope this helps :)
