Over a month ago it was discovered that there was a new tameable pet, a ghost wolf. It requires a number of intricate requirements to tame which I will not go into unless it relates to my story. One thing you need it a meta gem that halves your cast time when proc'ed by changing aspects. So I pop it in my old Beast Lord helm and head on down to Duskwallow with some friends. Now I'm trying to get it to proc by flipping back and forth aspects but I keep running out of mana. I downgrade my Aspect of the Hawk to level 1 to save mana and we eventually figure out how to tame the wolf. I go home happy and with a cool looking pet, this was about around the end of Nov I believe.
I just noticed last night while raiding SSC that I was using Aspect of the Hawk rank 1.

It's only funny because I've done similar things before. Waaaaay back before the program used to automatically upgrade your ranks, I had bought an upgrade to arcane shot, and kept buying them. I paid attention to the little damage numbers and they never seemed to go up. I then realized, I needed to upgrade all my 'icons' to match the ranks. I was using lower ranks of EVERYTHING than what I had available. Now it does it for you...
You lucky, lazy newcomers... :o

On my pally though. I had the old rank of divine shield on my hotbar instead of the current rank (the 10 second one not the 12 second bubble hearth one). I didnt notice it until i starded arenaing at 70 i believe. Always wondered why i couldnt bubble hearth like everyone else.
That character also raided for months and months at 60 so... yeah i was an idiot.

I probably laughed so hard, because I've done something similar. Seeing as I'm one of the few in my guild with a high enough fishing skill to net Lurker, I get to fish for him.
I would constantly parse really, really low DPS on Lurker. I mean I would lose like about 100 or so DPS. I would get out DPSed by our druid tank, who's in kitty form for the fight.
Of course, this was because of me never remembering to unequip the fishing pole once Lurker pops out.
