So I was thinking while leveling up my Warrior about the up coming expansion and the new level cap. More specifically about the new 51 point talents. I know it's a bit early but I am one of the people who enjoys thinking about what could be almost as much as actually doing new things.

I started thinking about Rogue's Assassination tree. Pretty much everyone can agree that Mutilate, while not as good now as it was in the beginning of TBC, was very fun and definitely has a 'roguish' feeling to it. I started thinking about the opportunity vs dual wield spec debate (that has been settled many many times) and how when people are level 80 they could get both, AND dagger spec.

So, this brings brings me to my point...

What is Blizzard going to give assassination to keep people from doing this?

I'm sure the assassination tree in the spec isn't "THE BEST" but the basic idea is there.

We are going to have to get something really really good below (or above depending on how you look at it) Mutilate to make people want to invest 51 points in the tree. Sooooo what are some ideas?

This is just for fun, keep in mind.
But why limit this to just the one tree? What are some 51 point combat and subtlety talents?

Maybe I am way out of the loop and there is some seriously important information regarding this topic that I have not been privy to. (i.e. Blizzard already said what the new talents are or Blizzard said there will be no new talents or whatever)

I couldn't think of anything worthwhile to be below Mutilate aside from some variation of "improved mutilate" but what would it do? Hell, I have no idea, but I know you guys are chock full of them :P

From what I've read about the 2 new tiers of talents per tree, Blizzard aren't stopping anyone from making that build.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone at Blizz said "We're going to try and make the new talents optional to players, so that they can choose to take them up, and not have to be a necessary part of their build"

In other words, the new talents are going to be helpful, but it will be just as good putting those 10 points elsewhere.

I would have to go 41/0/30.

Dirty deeds, prep, serrated blades, elusiveness, stealthed speed increase + fleet footed and 5/5 deadliness in a mutilate build.

Dirty deeds+deadliness+target below 35% health + double crit mutilate = SEXY NUMBERS

They'll gimp the tree (any of them) sometime after that if they don't plan on making 41+ talents look at least tempting.

lol. They won't even give you HARP. What makes you think you will get that?

/sigh.

It says a lot about the current status of our talent tree that the idea of having 71 points to spend doesn't really fill me with glee.

41/30/0, 30/41/0, or even 30/0/41 wouldn't even be all that great at level 70 to be honest, they'd be slightly more powerful version of the current build, with nothing really overly strong added.

People drooling over 41/0/30 forget that Resilience will STILL be around at 80, and like myteddy said... they nerfed HARP - what makes you think they'll let any cross-tree combo that's actually deemed powerful stay around?

Blizzard has done a pretty effective job of destroying our inter-tree synergy and none of our 21 point talent carry much of an 'oomph' anymore.

I mean, they'd be better... but certainly not 'oh my god! op!'.

Now here's something scary... or this... or dear god this is going to be sick.

Now on the plus side, Blizzard has said that the trees will keep expending. So yes, there will be 51 points talents. All we can hope, is that they'll actually be good.

True.

Every other class will probably have a 51 talent like: "Allows you to see stealth as if it doesn't exist!"
