So, as any Rogue knows Latro's is one of the best OH swords for PvE before Kara.

I ran a Heroic Mech today and got The Sun Eater.

I want to know if I should keep running BM to try and get Latro's.

I see it as:

Sun Eater vs. Latro's
1.6 speed vs. 1.4 speed
No Rogue stats vs. 15 AGI 14 Expertise 26 AP
83.4 DPS vs. 71.8 DPS

And please please please don't bring in the S1 sword.

*cries* But Horde always win AV!!!

*sarcasm off*

Seeing as how I have The Sun Eater at the moment, If I get an S1 sword I'm upgrading MH from Millenium Blade.

EotS = Devil, worse than AV.

Well the Latro's may not have as much DPS as the Sun Eater,
But it's faster, meaning more poison procs.
It has the Agi, Exp and AP which also help your MH weapon as well.
So while Equiping the Sun Eater may increase your offhand dps, it lowers your MH dps, which is the more important dps weapon.

and the slower wep wrecks combat potency.

So in other words Latro's wins.

*laughs* My tanking warrior friends is gonna kill me.

EDIT: Though, I really didn't think that .2s difference in speed would make as much of a diference as 12DPS...

Well if you search around enough you can find a rogue damage calculator.

Plug in both weapons and see what Overall DPS differences you get. I seem to recall the speed making a huge difference due to combat potency. if your spec doesnt have combat potency i dont think its nearly as severe.

For combat potency specs, each 0.1 speed less on the offhand is roughly equivalent to 10 more dps, making Latro's comparable to the S1 sword in raw dps terms. Either will do more for you than The Sun Eater (speaking as a sword collector who has Latro's, the Sun Eater, and King's Defender :p

Latro's is by far the better choice, at least for a normal combat swords build. According to the latest spreadsheet at rogue.raidcal.com Latro's is better than S1 oh by 1dps in raid buffed situations and basically = in unbuffed situations.

Comparing Latro's to Sun Eater, Latro's is 24dps better unbuffed and 38dps better buffed. Obviously the spreadsheet deals with ideal cycles so these #s are purely theoretical but i know from using Latro's for 4 months and destroying other rogues in raid dps that had s1 wpns that it is the better choice if you can get it to drop.

In other words save your honor for the S1 mh.

The Gladiator's Quickblade is better than Latro's by several DPS for combat builds . I was carrying Latro's for months until finally I broke my no-PvP stance and spent several evenings to earn it. It was worth it. The trick is to find a good EotS group to earn the marks, and then gring honor in AV.
Now I can patiently wait for the Talonblade to drop, which is again a few DPS better than S1.

I would not count on Latro's dropping - if you are unlucky it will never drop. S1 is a sure deal (even if it looks much worse)
