Vindicator's BrandFollow

Before 2.3 hit, I farmed aldor rep to get my Vindicator's Brand. Now I can get the Gladiators Slicer for honor. My question is will the extra crit and dps on Gladiator's Slicer compensate for the loss of +hit and AP on Vindicators Brand in a meaningful increase in raid dps? Keep in mind I have mongoose on VB right now, so if the glad blade isn't going to up dps that much, Id rather not waste the time and money putting mongoose on it.

Any input appreciated.

Depends on what your AP and +hit is now.

If your armor overall provides enough AP and +hit that you don't need it to be buffered by the VB I'd say go for the S1 Wep, but if you need that extra +hit and +AP on the VB to say competant stick with it.

Might help if you gave us your armory, or told us your importants stats and where you are raiding.

Pennuial, your trinket (moroes watch) is a tank item, you dont need that, get the netherstorm quest item 'core of ark something. Soloable and better.
Also get a better cloak, the poncho from nagrand quest is also soloable and much better.
Your neck is a shammy/fury warrior item, get the 25 badge reward if worgen wont drop.

Also try to get revered with cenarion, the head enchant is priceless.

Just remember basically dodge rating and strength = crap for rogues.

This is why iam just doing arena for month in a 5 man.

Merciless slicer didnt give me these doubts when having to choose an upgrade for my brand.

and it saves me the honor i need for other pvp bg items iam after.

But ya, since its already available buy the glad slicer with honor.

I notice you got good gear. But its lacking in a few spots. Do you have blade fists breath?

Dodge is not all that for rogues endgame. Keep the trinket but really its a waste of a trinket spot in a raid.

This link will guide you to items to replace your shoulders, trinket, chest, belt and cloak. maybe your ring is you want 2 more agility.

Everything else is just fine. WEll the fel leather boots depend on your preference but the ones you have are nice too.

A few notes.

The stopwatch and neck were both drops that nobody else wanted. Our guild lacks a raiding shammy or DPS warr. I know they are not ideal, but they are purple and were better than what I had before. Saving my badges for the leggings with +haste. So I'll just have to wait for Worgen.

The cape is exclusively for +hit. I have the Veterans epic cloak as well and swap them out as needed.

I've already completed those two quests and vendored the rewards, I'm pretty sure. Vendored the trinket back when I still had bladefists and the cloak I passed on because I have the veterans cape.

I had bladefists breadth, but it looks an awful lot like the grey vendor junk that drops off of elementals....so yah, accidentally vendored it and didn't realize it until after it was already too late.

I appreciate the feedback on my gear and everything, I know it is lacking in spots and am slowly but surely working on that; but there is one thing I want to know for a fact.

Will the the added dps from gladiators slicer justify buying another set of mongoose mats, considering

a. Jaedenar's low-pop economy is jacked
b. saving for epic flying
c. trying to lvl BS for drakefist hammer (which will also cost a pretty penny)

If I was dealing with an unenchanted brand, it would be a no-brainer. But I wonder if its really worth the investment in mats to bring a mongoosed gladiator blade to a fresh kara guild when the brand is getting the job done sufficiently for now and I have other competing interests for my gold.

I don't anticipate using swords for BGs or arena (maces, drakefist), so the resilience on is more or less a wasted stat for me.

I guess I would just like to know how much glad slicer will increase my overall dps and then I can decide how important an upgrade it is.

Thanks for not flaming me yet.

I would suggest saving up your bg honor points for S1 armor/vindicator stuff, if you will be raiding kara weekly, wait for Fool's Bane or Spite Blade to drop. They are very close to S1 weapons' dps. Save your gold for enchanting/gemming other items or kara weapons if they drop.
Epic mount can wait till you fully epic out then start to save up for it.
Then save up arena points for big bad S2 mace or sword.

points up*

thats good advice there, i second it.

For a trinket to replace blade fists you might want core of ark or the trinket from mech.

Its good to deal with someone who knows what their doing. Most of the time we poeple here have to assume complete ignorance.

The pvp stuff and raid drops will be what your aiming for anyway after you get the stuff in the link i gave.

If you have enough honor head for those.

which proffesions are you?

Did you do *any* quests on your way to 70? There are no less than 10 quest rewards that are better in every way for raid DPS than a moroes watch.

Purple doesn't always mean better.

Edit: This sounds really bad, like I'm being an *******; I'm not trying to, I'm more just shocked that with as many quest reward trinkets as I've swapped out as I've leveled, let alone instance drops, I don't see how whatever you had could have been worse than a Moroes' Pocket Watch.

Before the stopwatch dropped, I had Bladefist's Breadth & Hourglass of the Unraveler. I used some of the quest reward trinkets here and there, but always preferred Bladefists and Hourglass. Thus I would wendor the quest reward trinkets since I had better at the time.

Ater I had completed all those quests, I accidentally vendored Bladefists, mistaking it for grey vendor trash that drops off of elementals. A dumb mistake, but one I could not reverse once I had realized what had happened.

Then, when the Stopwatch dropped (after I accidentally vendored Bladefists), the only trinkets I had aside from Hourglass were my PVP trinket and Riding Crop.

I just run with the stopwatch to avoid some damage on trash pulls. I already have a plan to get a better dps trinket (romulo's poison vial). May go for the Mech trinket if it takes too long for the vial to drop.

I am a miner/master hammersmith (only 341), so I have no plans to roll for fool's bane or save honor/AP for the MH glad mace (but will need the OH) as I will soon have my Drakefist Hammer. The upgrades to DF are expensive, but oh well.

So, since everyone is talking about something other than my swords, I'm guessing the consensus there is to buy the Gladiator's Slicer and grind gold/mats to mongoose it?

BTW tenjen, that link you posted is broken.
