Weapon type does not matter. You'll be doing your damage either by meleeing in cat/bear from, in which case you're using your claws and not your weapon, or with spells, in which case you're not hitting anything directly. Just look for the weapon with the best stats.

As far as armor, it depends how you'll be speccing. Choose the stats that best fit your spec (see sticky for details, but basically STR/AGI/STA for feral or INT/SPI/STA to start for balance/resto, later you'll specialize more in spell damage, healing, AP, defense, etc.). If you're balance or resto, you may need to mix in some cloth to get a good mix.

If you're looking for a list of specific items you should look for, I think there are a couple around that you could Google or maybe someone else has a link.

As you're a new druid, even if you aren't new to WoW, I highly recommend the sticky at the top of this forum. It tells you everything you need to know.

It says "READ THIS FIRST" for a reason

Click that link. Read it. If you have further questions, make them specific, not "what is the best <insert inappropriate generalisation request here>". Explain how you like to play - PvE, PvP, solo/group, etc. Give details.

All of these things will help stop your posts getting flamed into oblivion, and you might also learn something along the way :)

Of course, it's possible that I've spent too much time on the Rogue boards, and you're about to be bombarded with helpful advice. Wouldn't bet on it, though :P

Edit: Ok, too much time on the Rogue boards then :D Damn you, Teacake!
