Warrior soloing StratFollow

Just thought I'd ask some advice / opinions here.

I helped 2 RL buddies (a Druid and Pally) through Strat the other night (for some good old world fun), and we coped quite well, clearing the whole place easily. I had never been, so it was a great experience for me.

I'm DW fury .. Crafted Epics and blues / Quested Blues / PvP epics. So nothing too special, but better geared than anything from Kara, so my damage was quite over the top for those poor little level 58-60 elites to handle ... even if they were 4 deep (ofc, BoK, MotW, LotP, etc, helped a lot ... at one stage my crit rate was 38% :-D).

They were both 60, so healing and decursing etc was on a par with the level of the instance. I had nothing to worry about, just wade in and smashed face (ofc, couldn't agro tooo many, cos the first heal would make them head straight for the healer, I can only gain the undivided attention of 8 at a time at the most ;->)

Well we finished off, (the Baron's Mount didn't drop :-<), and made our way back to our respective Hearth points.

A day or 2 later, I thought I'd try the place solo, with a little more prudence, seeing as though I wouldn't have a healer, but it would still be doable. Hah, only not ---

There's a mob (I think it's the Mangled Cadaver) which debufs you in the most inconvenient way ... ~150 Shadow damage every 10 secs, and 100% reduction in Health Regen ... this was deadly .. I cleared the first 3 groups (in turn), and was about 25% health after that, so I decided to sit down and eat and ... nothing happened ... I could regen my health. So I tried to bandage, but the damage tick interrupted me after one bandage tick. I was slowly dieing, and there was nothing I could do about it.

So I hearthed, took off my gear, and Died in the Inn !!!

How the hell would a Warrior (or even a rogue for that matter) solo this section ... it seems impossible to me, without someone like a pally to purify all the time (which was obviously happening the first time 'round without me even noticing) ... There's a guy on wowhead who claims he (31/30/0) solo's Strat regularily, I fail to see how, unless ofc, I'm missing something.

Ehh yes it is possible, i did it with my 70 mage and if a clothie can do it i think every class can. The trick is cure disease and cure poison potions. Make sure you got a lot of them. There even is a shield of level 20 or so that cures diseases when used with a 10 minute cooldown or something. So i suggest going to the kurzen compound first. Get a lot of jungle remedy's and then go to strat. That way you will survive. Cause it is only in the beginning that they give you that unpleasent curse. Good luck, Cheers

Cool, so the Strat for Solo Strat (sorry, couldn't resist) is cleansing potions (if you can't do it yourself).

Quick recap .. does Jungle Remedy / Jungle Juice / Jungle XXX share cooldowns with Healing pots .. I would imagine they do, so it's probably best to go in there stocked full of potions of all shapes and sizes, food AND bandages.

Will give it a go .. when I went in, my buddy shared about 6 quests they were doing ... we completed all except the Holy Water one, I need 2 more ;-), might as well finish it.

Oh, and I picked up 4 Righteous Orbs, 2 stacks of 2 sold for 90g each ... within 12 hours ... seems like Crusader is still quite popular, and a decent way of making money if you have the inclination.

Oh, Belnazzar dropped the epic Priest robe pattern, which sold almost instantly for 100g ... looks like old world stuff still has an appeal across the baord ;-)

bandages still work. and you will need some sort of cleansing pot. otherwise, food doesn't even work. I find it's easier to just avoid most of the mobs that i don't want to kill. many of them you can be within 5m of and they will still ignore you. otherwise, healing pots early and often make a difference between certain types of mobs.

other than that, you should be able to solo it no problem if you have roughly the kinda gear I think you have(~38% crit buffed is no small feat, but isn't 'overpowered').

Since i can solo bloodfurnace, either DPS specced or Prot specced, soloing strat shouldn't be very hard, if other than the debuff you, and I, so despise.

How are you doing it prot spec'd? Being prot spec myself, I can solo Scholo if I'm having a good day and pick my fights carefully, but nothing beyond that. I'm assuming you need some decent gear to do it prot, or is it more about carefully picking your way? Just curious.

Too be honest im still very curious what your build is with protection if you can solo a azeroth instance like scholomance or stratholme. Leaving all problems like pots and curses away can you link your build here? Thanks

i just cant see it being done solo, let me rephrase this ...i cant see it being done solo by me. I feel that im a master at soloing being that is all i have ever done. But these high end dungeons are just too extreme. this post is not calling anyone to the carpet but for anyone in the same boat as me who wants to avoid several gruesome deaths and a costly repair when i finaly got out of there, go in with a healer! to those brave or foolish souls that can achieve this place solo ...my hat's off to you and you have my unfounded respect.

gear > instances

get some epics, socket for DPS, get enchanted head to toe. That's how i solo strat as DPS.

Just bring a lot of food and bandages. the drops easily pay for it.

as prot i've solo'd bloodfurnance. i'm in T4 and assorted epics. I have 3 or 4 blues depending on the set. it takes time, and food. I've also solo'd most of scholo (i bypassed many mobs) as prot. I just usually do live side, since it drops the more orbs.

Just an update, I got some cleansing potions frmo STV, and gave it a go... walked out of the living side with 4 more orbs ... so Yup, did this solo as a level 70 Fury spec warrior ... average DPS gear. Yes, that does include Balnazaar (sic)

I didn't try the undead side, but I can't imagine it being a problem. The pulls are the same size, and the bosses are as easy as the bosses on the living (yup, took down Timmy as well).

Haven't tried Scholo yet, but I understand Strat is harder, so .. gl to me ;-)
