Having leveled mainly through instances from 60 - 70 it seems apparent to me that warrior itemisation is fairly poor before 70, now that i'm hitting 70 and doing SL and SV etc i can see itemisation getting better from the related quests but its damn annoying that I'm stuck with some green gear before instancing at 70 even though i've kept myself in instances all the way.

Nah, it's actually true. I've levelled my warrior and rogue to 70, and mage up in the mid-60s, and warriors seem to be hit the hardest. I'd say at least 80% of the time the plate gear I see is for pallys, while clothies always have something and rogues do 2/3 of the time with the rest being feral druid (which you can still use as a rogue if it's a big upgrade) or boomkin stuff.

Word. For quest rewards as a prot warrior I get 1 good quest reward per outlands zone. 2 if I'm REALLY lucky. Everything else is for pallys.
I used to laugh about this when my Pally main got to Outlands. I loved all of caster plate that the warriors had to pass on. :-)
But my smile turned upside down when my Prot warrior hit Hellfire. :-(
