Paladin helpFollow

#1 Dec 29 2007 at 6:59 PM Rating: Decent
I was looking to get some help with how to play a paladin. I am currently a lvl 26 BE pally. Im going offensive in talents just for lvling, then will respec into holy. But as of right now I am currently wondering and second guessing myself on how/ what spells to use.

I would just like some advise to which spells I should have up, and what spells I should judge, and after judging, what spell I should recast. Does that make sense?

A break down of spells to play would be VERY helpful. I just want to make the best of my paladin, and to learn early in the game.

THANX

I'm going to assume you're ret. As far as leveling ret all you really need to do is use seal of command and judge seal of command. You could start out with a judgement of crusader to start things off, but you don't need to. As far as blessings, I always went with wisdom to reduce my down time between mobs, but might isn't bad either.

The only seal/judge you should be using is Command (though when dealing with named mobs judging crusader *first* is better). At that level, Blessing of Might should be up (mana regen can be compensated by base Spirit regen rate). For weapon, use Sin'Dorei War Blade (Quest, you should have it), Reef Axe (Black Fathom Deep), or Corpsemaker (Razorfen Kraul, level 29 req). All of these will allow you to have reliable and large Command procs.

Of course, this is assuming that you went Retribution. For aura, Devotion is better than Retribution.

Edit: minor details.

How a Pally plays really changes as you level. Even within the same spec, so it is kind of hard to give a clear cut answer.

1)As a ret leveling you will want to get a slow 3.6 2h. Start by judging with Judgement of the Crusader, then Seal of Command. Judge command when it comes up. When you get high enough for Crusader strike you will throw that into the mix.

2)Ret Aura till you get Sanc aura. Someone did the theorycraft once, armor vs minor dps boost and dps boost won for grinding purposes.

3)Somewhere into the 20's you can use BoMight, but eventually you will start to notice that BoWisdom is much more effective for grinding and will reduce your downtime making it much more worthwhile than Might.

4)Stack Str (for AP) and Agi (for crit). Don't neglect Int or Stam or you will feel it, you will have more downtime than you want if you neglect those two.

Remember you have a bunch of neat little tricks that can save the day in a number of situations, Judgement of Justice on runners is a big thing, etc. At lvl 35-40 Prot becomes very viable for leveling. Don't look at holy till you are gearing up for end game, I did it at lvl 67 and it suuuuuuuuucked.

Now come on dont give the guy the wrong idea, I just currently switched from Prot to Holy on my 64 Paladin. Simply put with my Shockadin build and all of the extra healing/spell damage I managed to get from the decent items from Ramps,BF,SP,etc I have about 450 bonus healing and about 250 spell damage and I do more damage then I ever did as Prot. (The bonus spell damage I have also works toward my SoR damage, it does about 3 times as much per it then it used to)
