I'm lvl 61 lock and have been questings the whole time, never did instances or arena or battlegrounds. Could someone explain to me how the Honor point system works and how you obtain this gear everyone is talking about in the battlegrounds?Btw, how important is this resilience factor is? What is the best to get involved the battlegrounds?
Thanks

Hi there!
Let's start, honor system works like this ; you kill another player,in bg or in world(of warcraft) and then you get honor. At lv 70 you get about 10 honor per kill.Ofc,its better to do battlegrounds becouse you get extra honor, more if your team wins, less if looses. With this honor points you can buy different items, for horde its in OG ,hall of champions. So basicly, the more you do bg's and kill other players you get more honor.AKA honor farming.

Arena has different system, you get arena points every week,I think its wensday / thursay night (not sure) based on your team's rating.Every team starts with 1500 rating. When you fight other teams, depending on THEIR rating you get +rating(if your team wins) or loose rating(if your team looses).2v2 gives less points then 3v3,5v5 gives most points (80% more then 2v2).

Resilience is the MAIN stat for pvp, luckily most items with +resilience also give +stamina, all pvp items bought with honor or arena points will give you +sta and +resi.Resilience lowers chance of you being critted,so imagine lock with 13k hp,450+ resilience(meaning its very hard to crit him/her) taking only white damage.Wicked.

For honor farming I'd suggest Alerac Valley.

Good luck with pvp.

Are there certain lvl ranges to play in for the various battlegrounds?

At 61 you can go to all bg's.
range is x0 - x9 ,and only lvls 70 (except AV wich is 60-70).

BTW, Why are Battlegrounds and raid builds different? Can you not use the same build for your Lock?

Well, first of all,in raid or instance you wont be the one taking damage, tank will be,so if you're raiding you wont be needing talent like demonic embrace or iHoT (improved Howl Of Terror) or if you're pvping you wont be needing talent like Malediction...

Basicly, for pvp you need talents that directly help YOU to live longer, take more dmg etc and for pve you'll be focusing on getting as much damage as you can.Example is SL/SL build. Its great for pvp ,but for pve its no good.
Then you have 0/21/40 build that most good (very good) locks use in raids and is cmpletely useless for pvp.
Then you have build like this wich is my fav build as you can use it in pvp and in pve.

You'll get hang of it during time.

As far as i can recall, EoTs (Eye of the Storm) is lvl 70 only(I could be wrong ofcourse)
But most of the time you will be doing AV(atleast for honor).

Just play alot of BG's and do your daily quest BG aswell, because it will net you aprox 450 honor.

Shoarmakip, I am currently a Demo build with Felguard, if I want to do Battlegrounds, instances, and Raids. Would it be prudent for me to respecced to the build you suggested? (43/7/11) Now or later? Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it.

By the time you get into raids and higher-end game you'll know what spec suits you better, trust me.

But for starters, affliction is great until you get some +hit rating ,+spell damage ,+crit.Demo is also good, you can do instances normal with your felguard (turn off auto-taunt and manually cleave becouse it will break any near CC'ed mobs).
Try that build I gave you and see how you like it,as I said you can pvp and pve with it.Maybe you wont like that build,if so,just get back to demo ,you can still do good pve and pvp with it,there is no BEST spec, just one that suits you best.

Nitelord....Im LvL70 demolock and have been from the get go. I did respec to the formentioned Affiction build for a time. It was as different for me as it would be to change classes, meaning play styles are VERY different. After about 2 weeks, I went back to Demon. I guess Im partial, but I seemed to do more damage with my "BIG UGLY" running around. I do it all as a demonlock, and I seem to hold my own. I guess it all comes down to preference, and your skill at playing it.
