Lifebloom for PVE soloingFollow

I just hit 64 and got Lifebloom, yay me. The benefits when actually healing are obvious, but since I can stack this 3 times and it's instant, I don't see why I wouldn't always use it instead of Rejuv when I'm soloing and need to shift-heal as well. Math isn't my strong suit but it looks like way more healing.

Does anyone use Rejuv again once they have this, and if so, when? Or is it kind of like how Mangle replaces that other thing whose name I can't even remember anymore?

NORM!!!

Unlike how Mangle replaces Claw, Lifebloom stacks with your other HoTs, so for maximum HoT goodness, you can throw both of them on your target or yourself. Regrowth as well, which is good because while it requires casting time it lasts the longest at 21 seconds.

For a particularly nasty solo fight I'll typically cast Regrowth on myself at 20 yards away, then pop Rejuvenation, Lifebloom, Lifebloom, Lifebloom as I'm running toward the fight, then shift into cat (or bear if its a crowd) and unload a world of hurt on 'em.

Edit: Sorry cake, I forgot the "Norm!" :)

Hee.

True (and duh me), there is no reason I couldn't use all three, especially before a fight where I have been using Regrowth + Rejuv.

But it may be overkill during. Usually if I need to heal during a fight and I'm either in cat or frenzied regen is on cooldown I just right click my bar in Healbot so it autoshifts me out (thank you 2.3) and casts Rejuv, then go back to form without really taking any hits (Your skill in Staves has increased to 11). In a case like that where I'm only using one, I'll remap that button to Lifebloom. But in cases where I Barkskin and need more healing than that, I'll use all 3 now instead of just 2.

its mostly a mana thing. lifebloom is dirt cheap, which is great for feral, so you can stack it two or three times with a rejuv, all instant cast spells, get into cat, and by the time you prowl and get to the guy youre full or nearly so.

Thanks. Separate but related, why are people always saying to keep LB up on the tank but not let it bloom? What's the downside of letting it bloom?

Spike healing as well as the spell disappearing, meaning you have to restack it.

But if the bloom gives the threat to the tank (as was mentioned in the "tree tank" thread), this is actually a good thing. No?

Seven seconds just seems pretty short to never let it bloom; seems like you'd be more or less spamming LB and it'd be hard to work everything else in. But maybe I'm just too slow with my keys. I've been known to have a hard time getting that extra shred in when OOC procs. :)

Because with 3 stacked they're getting healed a great amount every second, and if it blooms you have to then start all over again.

In fact, if you pop a trinket with +healing on it, that +healing will persist indefinitely as long as you keep the stack refreshed. It's pretty sick, and even most of "us" admit that its a bit OP. And word from the frontlines is that this will be fixed/nerfed in the next patch. So A) enjoy it while it lasts but B) don't get hooked on it.

When you're "healing," your main job is keeping your tank's health up, and Lifebloom x3 is such a huge part of that that everything else should be secondary and considered a distraction. In that context 7 seconds should be, and feel like, plenty of time to keep it rolling. If you're still talking about healing yourself in PvE, don't even think about trying to keep Lifebloom rolling on yourself...7 seconds would be way too frequent. I don't think that's what you mean, just making sure. : )

Did you see the other post about the RogueFocus addon? If not, check it out. Pouncing just before your energy "ticks" will make it much easier to squeeze in Shred #2 on an OoC.

I am the healer for my static group so I have some small experience healing although that character is a priest. 7 seconds is probably longer than I think it is but it still sounds short to me.

Maybe you can tell me where my thinking goes wrong here: GCD is 1.5 seconds. By the time I stack the spell 3x that means 2 GCD's in between so the first LB is up in ~4 seconds, yes? If a healing touch or regrowth becomes necessary, that takes up a chunk of that 4 seconds. Add in healing pets/players who may be off-tanking something and throwing instant HOT's at other party members who may need one. Sure, tank comes first and ideally those other people wouldn't need heals, but speaking for myself I rarely live in the ideal world, and stuff happens. It just seems to me like at least occasionally you wouldn't get to it in time and there'd be a bloom.

I'm not trying to belabor the point - obviously if you experienced druid healers say you can do it, it can be done - but I'm a curious girl and I live for endless discussion of trivial things. :)

EDIT: Never mind! I was under the impression it blooms when the first one in the stack is up, not when the last one in the stack is up. I get it now. Sorry, not sure why I was being so slow but I'll wear the dunce cap today.

Yeah, you only have to cast it once every 7 secs to refresh all three stacks. I typically throw a rejuv in between lifebloom casts if needed or even a regrowth as well. In intensive fights, it is quite easy to keep all 3 HoTs ticking on the tank until you run out of mana (pretty quickly using regrowth).

I was under the impression that this was already nerfed last patch. Either way, it is still worth while maintaining the 3 stacks on the tank throughout the fight.

edit for brain malfunction.

You meant to say every 7 seconds, right?

keep in mind rare is on an oceanic server. to account for lag, he needs to cast it every 3s.

Sigh - I'm still a little sun-touched from being at the cricket yesterday.

Yes I meant 7sec :)

I don't play on an Oceanic server though :) It wouldn't make any difference to my lag anyway as all the servers are in the US, it is only the peak times that change.

It is actually about 5-6 secs to recast it :) Sometimes though I can get a rejuv & a regrowth off then get the refresh in without it blooming, but not always.`

Sorry for a bit of a necropost, but there's no mention of a Lifebloom change in 2.3.0 patch notes. The PTR 2.3.2 patch notes however say "Lifebloom: When this ability is refreshed it will take on the strength of the incoming Lifebloom effect, rather than maintain the existing strength."

So it's officially "enjoy it while it lasts."
