This is the build that I'm using thus far, and I can say that I love Slam. Combined with Imp Execute, I'm cutting through trash like nobody's business. However, I'm quickly approaching 40, and with that, the prospect of MS is looming near. However, in my previous attempt at leveling a warrior, I quickly got bored with MS, and abandon the toon, forever doomed to collect dust on Anetheron.

This time around though, I'm not looking to enjoy content. I'm looking to speed to 70 as quickly as possible and start PvPing. So, once I hit 40, in my mind, I can have one of three possible builds:

1. Full Fury. I'm not inclined towards this one, because my sense of Flurry is that it's wasted on a slow two-handed build, which I plan to stick with (and which several of you already told me was best).

2. Fury/Arms. I'm leaning towards this one. I'd retain Imp Slam and Imp Execute, two of my favorite talents at the moment, but I'd also get the benefit of Imp TClap (and shorty thereafter, Imp Charge, Deep Wounds, Impale, etc.). I think this might be the one that I work towards.

3. Full Arms. Mortal Strike. Honestly, that's the only reason I'd use this one, but I have a feeling that it's not as optimal for leveling as a build with Imp Slam. The next 5 points would probably go into Cruelty, and I'd start pushing my way down the Fury tree again, but sacrificing all the nifty goodies in Fury seems like too much of an opportunity cost just to get MS.

Thoughts? Alternate build ideas? Angst-filled flames?

the best thing you can do as a warrior is get a 31-pt talent. MS is worse than slam in terms of DPR, and if you dont actively pvp then you dont really need MS, but bloodthirst is still an effective rage dump while flurry works as well with a 2h as it does with dual wielding.

go full fury. get BT asap, maxing out flurry on the way and setting the stage to snag rampage at 50. trust me when i say having an instant that isnt conditional (overpower) or on a longish cooldown (whirlwind) helps immensely. you can keep up your main slam rotation too, just tossing in the odd bloodthirst to help grinding potential or when you get excess rage.

the issue of course, if whether or not you pvp. if you pvp, obviously MS will be loads better. but if all you wanna do is get to 70 asap, fill out fury. imp Tclap is nice, as is deflection, but rampage at 50 is even nicer. all the goodies in arms can wait till after you have rampage.

Full Fury

Imp. Execute is fairly meh with a 2H, you either will have enough Rage to Execute or you won't.

As many others have stated: Go full fury.

Flurry is all but a waste on 2h weapons. Basically, you have a slam rotation with a 0.5 sec slam in the full fury build, along with Flurry and a BT whenever your rage is sufficient. In the arms one you have a slam rotation with a 1.5 sec Slam, and an MS whenever rage is sufficient (or the traditional way, skip slam and just MS and WW...). Clearly the fury one is better.

Even at higher levels, when you can attain both MS and Imp. Slam, I'd argue that the damage increase from BT to MS does not make up for the damage decrease from no Flurry.

However, I'd spec this way for 40. 70.

Even though I don't know whether it's more effective for sure, I'd advise you to not use execute. Not discard it completely of course, but I believe it's good to have that bit of extra rage to start the combat with. If you already have 15 rage right after you've fired off a Slam, you can optimize your slam rotation to a greater extent.

Just my 12 copper, do with them what you want.

On a related note, for a warrior that mostly solo's or duo's would you recommend the same build for leveling (i'm 30 atm)? Also I haven't seen many comments on how to play this kind of warrior (most of the threads r high end &/or raiding) any info would b appreciated.

Demea, nice to see you on the warrior forums. I'd have to agree with the others that said to go full Fury at 40. If you're only looking to level as fast as possible, stick with it all the way to 70, filling out arms once you've got your 41-44 points in Fury.

Contrary to what others have posted, I'd only take 2/5 Imp Demo shout, and put the other 3 in UW. Anything more than 2/5 in Imp Demo shout is overkill for PvE. Also, as Utarius and RPZip said, Imp Execute is overrated, especially with a 2 hander. I leveled my warrior using a 2 hander, and honestly I didn't use execute that much. It was fun at first, and the huge crits with lots of rage were nice to see, but it really isn't efficient for grinding. You'd be better off holding on to that extra rage for the next mob, and only executing before you're going to stop to bandage/eat.

Good luck.

Along with everyone else suggesting what to do with Execute I second if not third them. And along with what Camel said those huge hits are quite lovely to see indeed however it is we worth saving that rage to burn through another mob.
