Feral Druid Build Help?Follow

#1 Dec 28 2007 at 10:59 AM Rating: Decent
Ok.. I'm new to this game.... as new as new can get. I started yesterday and got to level 10. Then I find out about the talent points and what not. My character is a Tauren Druid and I plan on going Feral, after reading some into it, it seems fun. Like I said I'm a newb, so I'm still learning things as I go, and I'm sure level 10 is low to even be thinking about talent points, I just dont want to ***** this up. So basically, I'm asking for advice on Feral builds... I dont know if it matters or not that I'm on a PVP server...but yeah.. I am. e_e; Any advice would be appreciated.. I found a few build options for feral.. I'm just not sure which would be the best.

This is a pretty popular cookie-cutter build http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=MzZxGGsfroezioVxcz. An overall good build if you want to dps, tank, and heal. Other than that read the stick. It has several more specialized builds there.

It's pretty hard to ***** up a feral build, the talents are all just so solid. The build linked above is good, here's some complementary advice on sequence of taking talents.

Feral: Skip Feral Aggression then fill up the tree, grab Feral Swiftness as soon as it's available to you at level 20, save Thick Hide until later and then only if you want to PVE tank, and avoid Nurturing Instinct altogether.

Resto: Furor, Naturalist, and Omen of Clarity are must-have talents in the resto tree. Some people fill out Feral down until they get to something like this so they can grab 5/5 Furor and 5/5 Naturalist mostly for the value of grabbing Omen of Clarity ASAP. Others follow the feral tree all the way to mangle, but others just pour points into feral until they get Mangle. In either case, at level 50 you gotta get mangle, even if it means respec'ing away from OoC. So sticking to feral eliminates the need for that respec.

Balance: Only one talent here ever comes up as a consideration for ferals: 1/1 Nature's Grasp. It's much debated but many think it comes in handy while leveling, as it's a good way to tie up a mob while you heal yourself. You won't get laughed out of your local druid club for having it or not having it.

First, it's not too low to be thinking about it at all. At the early levels (and with your first character no less) money is tight and you don't necessarily want to respec. I think it's smart to plan your builds early.

But bear in mind that you can respec. No mistake in WoW is irreversible except picking the wrong hair. It's a beauty of this game. The first time you respec it's 1g; after that it's 5, 10, etc. up to 50, where it maxes out.

You've already had some good answers. For another (but similar) one, here're the builds that worked really well for me as I leveled:

Levels 10 - 21

Levels 22-32

Levels 33-49

Level 50 Respec (this will cost 1g if you haven't already respecced)

At this point you can start filling back in your Resto talents up to Omen of Clarity, choosing Naturalist over Nature's Focus this time (you have Barkskin now, NF isn't as important unless you're heavily into PVP), then go back and finish filling in the feral tree and whichever extra talents you want.

As JeeBar notes, you can just use that level 50 build from the start and avoid respeccing at all, but by level 50 1g is not a big deal and I found the Resto talents really really useful while leveling. It's a matter of preference, I'm just throwing out an opinion.

I'm working toward a final build that looks something like this, but that is highly dependent on what you're doing. I'm choosing the talents that work best for the way I play, which is not what most people are aiming for end-game. People who tank need Thick Hide, people who PVP want to look at Nature's Focus, Primal Tenacity and Nature's Grasp, etc.

As with your others posts this is completely unreadable AND you've dug up yet another oldish thread to repeat information/advice without adding any (discernible) value or perspective of your own.

From bits and pieces in your posts I sense that you actually know your druidstuff quite well. As such I sincerely request that you put a little effort into making your posts comprehensible so your valuable knowledge and opinions can be made part of the valuable discourse of this forum. If you keep up with posts like this you WILL get rated down and your posts will be no longer be visible.

Just try three things for now:
1) Caps at beginning of sentences.
2) Periods at the end of sentences.
3) Spell out a word every once in a while.

I hope you recognize that I'm not just being a grumpy old man and really am trying to help ya out here, kid.

NORM!!!

No worries, cake, it was only a couple weeks old, hence "oldish". I wouldn't have spoken up if the necro(ish)post itself wasn't such an abomination. Your post knocked the OP's request out of the park with the builds by level, and you even used punctuation and line breaks and stuff! : ) Good stuff and another rate up. (I'll expect the usual chocolate chip cookie in the mail...)
